Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the Boston Bomber, heard voices in his head
“He believed in majestic mind control, which is a way of breaking down a person and creating an alternative personality with which they must coexist," Donald Larking, a 67-year-old who attended a Boston mosque with Tamerlan, told the Globe. "You can give a signal, a phrase or a gesture, and bring out the alternate personality and make them do things. Tamerlan thought someone might have done that to him.”
A family friend said Tamerlan was "idolized" by the rest of the Tsarnaev clan. "Anything he said was right," the friend said. "He was perfect.” When his mother, Zubeidat, told the friend that Tamerlan had said he "felt like there were two people living inside of him,” she refused the friend's advice to seek treatment for her son. "No, he’s fine," Zubeidat said, according to the friend. "She couldn’t accept the tiniest criticism of him."
"Tamerlan had some form of schizophrenia," another family friend speculated. "That, combined with smoking marijuana and head trauma from boxing had all made him ill."
But Zubeidat decided "medical treatment wasn’t the answer for her son," the Globe reported. "Religion was. Eventually, she would encourage Tamerlan to embrace Islam to discourage him from partying and drinking."
Tamerlan once told friends he believed 9/11 was a conspiracy carried out by the U.S. government. Zubeidat also declared that 9/11 was “purposely created by the American government to make America hate Muslims.""
After returning from a trip to Dagestan, friends said Tamerlan "had visibly changed":
His face was covered by a thick beard. Gone were the silver boots and trademark fur hat, replaced by dark clothing and a white prayer cap worn by Muslims. His prayers in the corner of the Wai Kru gym, which once took minutes, now lasted up to half an hour. His visits to the gym were rare.
“When he came back he had really dialed up the religion thing,” recalled his Wai Kru training partner, who declined to be identified. “The days of joking about his appearance, the Eurotrash, that kid was gone. In his place was a quite intense individual, one very focused on the heavy bag.”

So, too, Tamerlan’s anger over America’s foreign policy in Afghanistan and Iraq had escalated several notches. At home, he railed angrily about Muslims being killed overseas.
The whole thing is real tragic honestly.
Voices in people's heads has caused so much grief.

Way to fucking go you morons
someone needs to arrest this voice already
But Zubeidat decided "medical treatment wasn’t the answer for her son," the Globe reported
Fan-fucking-tastic...
I bet the voice played a lot of violent video.
Way to fucking go you morons
I feel at that point you should be able to take them out of their care and put them in a hospital simply because it's just cruel.
It might be evil to take someones child away but it's worse if they are left to suffer because 'religion is the treatment that heals'.
I can think of a single instance of someone hearing voices, picking up a weapon and mowing down random strangers being a good thing and it's Joan of Arc
And even then bitch got burned afterward for being nuts.
Was looking this up and found these pictures. Never saw them before. Intense.

A person very close to me believes that any and all people who commit acts of terror after hearing voices in their heads are actually subject to government "frequency mind control" and it irritates me so fucking much because this person is a "functional" member of society who buys into so much conspiracy bullshit.
This person believes 9/11 was an inside job, the Aurora Shooting was a government act, the Newtown Shooting was a coverup, the Boston Bombing was a hoax, the Navy Yard Shooter was sent by the government, and so on. It's so fucking pathetic and horrible, he's grabbing at straws to try and support his terrible beliefs that the government is trying to kill all of us for no clear reason.
I don't even know how to approach him because he's so brainwashed by conspiracy theory websites and YouTube videos.
If I try to use any scientific method to explain why his beliefs are wrong, he instantly discredits any and all of my points with, "You only know those things because that's what the government taught you."
I bring up schizophrenia and delusional disorders, paranoid personality disorder, and so on and he instantly demonizes me, saying, "Not everyone who hears voices is mentally ill. There are people hearing voices to tell them to shoot small children, and that's because of the government mind controlling them to take our guns and kill us, and I'm not buying into their tricks."
It throws all of my education in biology, human physiology, and so on right out the window. And it's partly why I'm so miserable.

Really spooky seeing that red dot on his head, just in case they needed it.
I have a feeling that this sort of mindset isn't gonna stop for decades and it's scary thinking about that.
people who speak of negative things 24/7, rather it's the government trying to kill you and everyone around you for some strange reason (which can and cannot be true depending if evidence is shown), religious nutjobs want to bring in the apocalypse (doomsayers), and other negative people will never really go away, they are addicted to this shit ever since they got interested into it.
So what happened to Tsnarnaev now exactly?
In some prison, awaiting trial, or death row?
Seriously after the whole two day ordeal was over and done with I kinda forgot about the guy.

I think he's still awaiting trial. Knowing the United States, it may be a year or two until his trial finally starts.

Punch him in the face and tell him the voices made you do it.
Trust me, it'll be funny.

As funny as it might seem, that is the absolute last thing to do in that situation. If this guy's as insane as he sounds, doing that will just (in his mind) prove him right, and possibly make him kill you.

I seriously hope he gets the help he needs. You shouldn't take it so personally though, i know it sucks however.
Allah must have spoken directly to him.
Who are we to judge such a prophet? He might be the next Jesus or Muhammad. They also heard voices, right?

I have known a few people like this, who try to spread these conspiracy websites and talk to people like they are brainwashed sheep.
When they try to use circular logic like 'you only know xyz because you were taught that by government', just bring up the fact that they only know what they know through conspiracy nutjobs and websites that have no credible evidence to their claims. They are the ones being brainwashed and I just find it hilariously ironic that they slate everyone else for being blind to the 'truth' when they will literally believe anything they read if its anti government or a scandal.

Argue that the government is controlling his mind to make him think that the government is controlling his mind. :v:

many people won't read lengthy boring details when they can just rely on bite-sized anecdotes and hearsay delivered by a single source to keep up with, things that will pique their attention and stir their emotions
Gee I dunno, dont do what the voice says?
I mean seriously, if a voice told you to go out there and kill a lot of people, wouldn't your first instinct be not to do it?
Gee I dunno, dont do what the voice says?
lets be ignorant of mental illness yeah!

Wrap up the case gentlemen, this guy right here just solved the whole issue.

nice marginalization of schizophrenia dude

It's pretty sad when a parent denies their child treatment under belief that god will fix them.
Bitch, God gave us science and medicine so we can do it ourselves!

It's easy to ignore something like that, but ignoring it for too long will cause some serious problems.
This is something that needs to be dealt with, not thrown to the winds. The sooner it's dealt with, the better.

I'm not sure you actually understand anything about schizophrenia.
Well that's explains what was wrong with him but why did his brother go along with it?
