A shooting has been reported at a nightclub in the Florida city of Orlando, and the attacker is said to have taken hostages.
The incident happened at the Pulse Club, a gay nightclub in the city. It posted on its Facebook page: "Everyone get out of pulse and keep running".
Video footage being shared on social media showed wounded people being treated at the scene.

If it was deliberately targeted at a gay bar then it may be religiously motivated, either Christian or Islamic. Or it's just your run of the mill nutjob.
The New York Daily News has reported that one witness saw "at least two assailants open fire with what sounded like a semi-automatic firearm inside the nightclub and outside the south Orlando venue from a vehicle."
Could have been someone who just got laid off or fired, who knows?

I think it's way too early to speculate. Shootings start at bars and clubs for all kinds of crazy and more silly resaons other then the ones you state.
I would say organized crime is a more likely culprit than terrorism.

As quoted above
New York Daily News reported at least two assailants both inside and outside the club.

My mistake
multiple shooter reports rarely pan out
remember the ucla thing where people thought there were 3 shooters, but it was just a murder-suicide?

I wouldn't be surprised this was religiously motivated. We all know that their lifestyle is very taboo to them. But this entire situation will not turn out well despite all that.
There have been some reports on social media regarding attacks on a hospital. No news outlets have confirmed this.

Orlando police have apparently canceled the 4:30 conference.
Orlando police just did a controlled detonation.

As far as it sounds, there is gunfire at officers. One officer injured.
I thought there were more gunmen
You can't trust early statements made by random people on twitter during an attack.
This is just over half an hour from where I live. Really sad. They're going to have a news conference with the mayor and the FBI at 7AM Eastern, I've heard.
The news conference updated us that there are people dead, unfortunately. There isn't an official number yet.
An FBI spokesman said they were investigating whether the attacker was a "lone wolf". He said the attacker appeared to "have leanings towards" radical Islamist ideology but it was not yet clear whether this was a case of domestic or international terrorism.
Called it. Targeted a gay nightclub, so it was probably religiously motivated.

How would that make any sense. When's the last time an organized criminal organization committed a mass shooting within the US.

And correct me if I'm wrong but organized crime doesn't usually mass murder innocent people, only people involved in the crime.

Cartels do that on a regular basis actually
That's terrible, I'm glad the Police tried to do their best to avoid a spread of misinformation, no idea how successful they would've been though.
was literally just downtown last night, must have gotten out before this happened, absolutely terrible thing
here's the latest from local news, police are considering it an act of terrorism

They really shouldn't have released the name. Only encourages more whackjobs to give mass shootings a go if they know they'll be internationally infamous because of it.

Some of the video coming out is pretty terrifying, there wasn't even that much shooting in the videos from the Paris attacks
Shooters parents where from Afghanistan
