so official statement made by winterkewl today on the private forum, I only do this to inform others who are not in the loop and do not have access to the forums
here is the short version if you don't want to read the text:
winterkewl games went under for alot of reason, mainly because there was a real lack of time, money and direction that nearly cost the teams real life problems, the game is being handed down to the yogscast, because simon and lewis feels like the game is not up to the standards they wanted to be at the preorder.
in short: they really REALLY needed more money to fund this project

I'm very sorry to have disappointed, working for you the backers was the most rewarding thing I've ever attempted, and it's also the only project I've ever attempted that we were un-able to finish. I sincerely hope that the project will live on and that Yogventures will one day be a reality as the Yogscast and this great community have a real opportunity that could be something really great.
Thank you all very much for the support, community, and resources to have attempted such a great project. I'm deeply sorry to have let you all down. "
The studio is closed down and it's said they're attempting to give the game off to another development team.
Is the Yogscast even relevant anymore?
Another failed Kickstarter project. Typical.
As if there was any doubt this would happen.
It's was obvious to anyone who looked into the company during the kickstarter that it was going to fail or be absolute garbage.

300,000 to 1,000,00 views on their recent videos, 1 or 2 released daily, so yeah.
How could they need more than half a million for an indie title? Something tells me this is quite fishy.
Well then again, it was a pretty 'ambitious' idea with a stupid concept to begin with.
According to that reddit post, 'Winterkewl' isn't even a team, it's just a single guy.
Half a million dollars for that, jesus.
I was reading through the r/games thread and found a response from one of the yogscast guys

so I guess they're teaming up with another company and providing a free copy of the game that the other company was making, along with their game when it's done?
that's what I understand at least, weird situation. I feel bad for the people that backed this, but shit, there's always a risk like this on kickstarter.
The thing is because yogscast is behind the game this probably won't mean that its failed, just they're going back a few steps.
And this is how far the guy got

Give 500k to some random guy with no past experience and people actually expected a decent product? lol

it looks really shitty, especially for something with that kind of budget. That said, the music is quite relaxing and nice
I saw their first video of that thing. it looked pretty promising. Mendable world without any type of blocky gimick. But the dude developing just gave up innovating and turned it into a minecraft clone. shame
If the Yogscast actually hired some developers and worked on the project in-house it probably wouldn't have been a disaster. You could tell that the Yogscast themselves didn't see much promise in the game after a while, they basically stopped promoting it entirely on their channels.
Don't let companies with no history develop a game with your IP guys

I think they're the largest channel in Britain.

I took a look at the TUG game. Lewis must be on some serious hash if he thinks that "it's everything Yogventures should originally have been and has the potential to be far bigger and better." Makes me wonder if they actually put any thought or effort into Yogventure to begin with.

A wasted investment sadly. If they actually put effort into the game and hired a decent developer group, their chances of cranking out a good game would have been high.
How would you feel to be one of those 10 people who donated 5,000-10,000 dollars? Probably pretty stupid.
I've never even heard of the Yogscast game until now.
When will people learn?
Kickstarter is for getting money for PARTS of projects. It's not plantfood for your "idea".
I wanna go into the gaming industry one day myself, but my dream is like a flower, in that it takes time, dedication, responsibility, and a helluva lot more than just pouring buckets of water onto it and then leaving it in the sun hoping it'll magically spring out like a beanstalk.
The only reason why I liked the Yogscast in the first place was Shadow of Israphel. After they stopped doing that I got bored with their channel.

Fair enough. #2 by views, so still not irrelevant in the slightest.
Oh hey, I remember seeing them announce this a few years ago back when I still liked these guys.
Is that really only how far the game got? That's embarrassing.
Let's face it, no one expected them to finish, with the yogscast basicly never mentioning them after that initial video, but as someone who watched the dev diaries, the game did look really cool.

Often successful kickstarters for games had at least 1 developer who had actually worked in the industry, look for that when deciding to fund a project.

I was reading up on their forums about a day or two about it. Apparently most of the high tier pledges were from trolls or kids with their parent's credit card.
http://forums.yogscast.com/showthread.php?135485-current-status-of-yogventures/page5
most of the bounced pledges were a combination of trolls and kids who thought it was ok to use their parents credit card. the guy that took all the highest tier pledges was going to "hold a contest" for the rewards. was ridiculous.
it was originally 6 people, but as the money ran out they had to let people go till it was a 1 man job.

(paraphrasing from lewis is the reddit thread)
Only 1 of the 5 actually went through, all the rest bounced.

Their podcast is amazing, they stopped making episodes though
As if no one knew it was going to fail the moment they started talking about it on the Yogscast.
kickstarter scamming strikes again
300,000 to 1,000,00 views on their recent videos, 1 or 2 released daily, so yeah.
And that's just on their main channel. Nearly every single member has his own channel, with some having combined channels like Simon and Lewis. They have a total of 24 channels. Half of them have over 500k subs. 4 of them have between 1M and 2M subscribers, while the main channel has over 7M subscribers.
They're pretty relevant.
Why would you trust goons with anything, I guess none of them played eve :v:
