Two Republicans in the U.S. Senate said on Wednesday they will not vote to confirm billionaire philanthropist Betsy DeVos as the next secretary of education, increasing the possibility that the charter-schools advocate will be rejected by the Senate. god we just need one more senator and we can sink this idiot, but with the way things are going pence will insist on casting a vote regardless and from what theyre saying that seems to be what theyre going to do
By all that is holy, don't let her in. America is fucked enough as it is, it doesn't need to have its future generations fucked over as well (not to mention the damaging changes that would likely affect current students).
I should fucking hope so, considering she's hopelessly inept and unqualified for it.
I just want to look her in her smug, vacant fucking face and ask her outright "Is the destruction of America's future youth really worth this to you? Does having a nation of morons really appeal to you?" and see her squirm. I don't care if you call that cringy. I really don't.

Can't wait for a conservative to tell me to pick up another job to pay for my education that allows me to get into higher paying jobs when I already work 2 jobs to pay for my school full time. But oh well, that's my fault, maybe I should "just get a better job" Fucking idiots, the lot of them.
I wonder how the Trump team will force this choice through
These republicans claim to be working for the people, but no one wants this person. How can they ignore that if they are "for the people?"
Education is my #1 priority and issue. A well educated country is a prosperous one. Just providing your citizens with decent schools and teachers is enough to fix so many problems. We simply cannot afford having an ignorant, plagiarizing, evangelical profiteer leading our country on that front. Privatizing our education system is by far the stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard and it's coming from potentially the person that will be shaping that same education system.

"I think that all children should be able to learn and be smart from the best school they can afford. Learning is good, and I want to help learning stay good. :pudge:"

Higher education is demonized by these idiots, they take pride in being stupid and ignorant. My sister only sees politics as "liberal" and "conservative", you're one or the other which is so god damn asinine. Pure tribe mentality. Blue states will most likely work to keep their schools at a equal level of quality but the red states will just become real life Idiocracies.
Even sidelining her politics and emphasis on private (religious) schooling over public schooling, she simply is no where near the best candidate for Secretary of Education.

In fact, as it stands right now, she is the worst candidate.

Jerry Moran may be wavering too.
There is a reason why the higher up Republicans want to attack education and ruin it. Education helps people think for themselves. And a good chunk of their voter base is in areas where education is not the best. So it's easier to keep them uninformed and tell them want they want to hear without being questioned.
Oh my god please reject this dirtbag. She doesn't belong there, so at least get this one thing right and don't give her that position.

Derek Black is his name, he had made friends during his time at college who consistently worked to get him to realize what he was indoctrinated with isn't true and now he is someone who publicly denounced it and broke all relations with his family. That is what the GOP and the true elite are afraid of.

The alt-left has had a part to play in this as well.
I can only hope that these two coming out like this convinces at least one more that might be a bit wary to reject DeVos to grow a spine and not just vote along party lines.
