The first time I spoke to him he said his mic cost $2000, since his usual job is doing voice-overs for adverts, so probably not too dissimilar.

Ahhh that EXPLAINS everything!
I've really wondered why his voice came through so much crisper than the others. A top-tier, professional microphone isn't standard gear for the average PC gamer.
