Well, despite earning $440 million on a budget of around $155 million, those plans for a trilogy of Terminator movies and even a spinoff TV series have been put on indefinite hold, due to the fact that the movie is likely to still lose money.
Good. Just leave this franchise alone, you've done enough damage as it is
I don't mind new Terminator movies as long as they're competently made. Guess it will be quite a while until we see any more of them.
I'm sorry, but I think terminator should've ended with T2.
I'm sorry, but I think terminator should've ended with T2.
It could have just ended with 1, even.
I rate the movies like this: Classics: T1, T2 Bad but still kind of fun: T3 Mediocre forgettable cashgrabs: T:S, T:G I'm surprised they cancelled the new trilogy after their success in China but I'm happy anyway.
T2 should've been the last of the films. I recall reading about all the little details that had been poured into it by James Cameron and thinking how it's a shame people are just making unnecessary sequels. In my eyes, T2 was the true ending of the franchise.
It could have just ended with 1, even.
na, T2 is probably the most deserving sequel any movie can ever hope for
T1 was a perfectly self-contained movie and it didn't need any sequels. We're just lucky that it turned out that T2 was actually good.
This is the second failed trilogy in just 6 years, they should just lay the horse to rest already.
what a surprise!
Isn't fiddling with finances to ensure a film isn't technically profitable just something Hollywood does?
Genisys was shocking though.
I guess it wasn't the genesis for more sequels.
Did they really think about making a new tv series after TSCC?
At least Genisys was better than the steaming turd that was Salvation. T1 and 2 were legendary, T3 can't hold a candle to them but still was somewhat endearing [sp]and T-X best waifu of all times[/sp]. Genisys was a trainwreck, but at least that train was full of awesome killbots beating the fuck out of eachother. I honestly wouldn't have minded a sequel, if only just to see if they could learn from Genisys' mistakes and deliver a better (if silly) action movie.
I actually really enjoyed Terminator Salvation, i kinda get that they saw no future in it being developed into a sequel so they ended up in the first movie. But the sense that humanity is actually destroyed and that the idea of nazi-like concentration camps for humans was a pretty interesting concept. I only wished there more movies in the Salvation arc since i would like to see more of the humans struggling to survive in a world where 99% is dominated by Skynet.

T1 and T2 are classics. T3 just copied the first two. T:S was OK, but it was just OK. T:G was the first Terminator film I disliked from the get go.
just let RLM make the next one
Casting let Genisys down.
True. While Emilia Clarke was absolutely spot on, everyone else felt like a meh choice. I can't help but think they chose this John Connor only because he's also named Clarke.
Did they really think about making a new tv series after TSCC?
TSCC was good, killed by the writer strike.
But I liked Genisys. :(
I thought Genisys was enjoyable and could have been a dignifying way to end the series. But no, Hollywood couldn't just end the series there, could they? They had to force in a way of being able to continue the series for more cashgrabs at the end.
They should use the money to make a terminator rts game
I've actually never seen any of the Terminator movies after 2. I watched 1 and then 2 and at the end of 2 I just sat there and thought, y'know, this not only doesn't need a sequel, this ended so fucking perfectly that it actually needs to not have a sequel. So for me, there are only 2 Terminator movies. And I guess whether they make 8 million more Terminator sequels or don't is no skin off my back because they pretty much don't exist to me.
Wait, what? I mean, I haven't seen the new one yet but how in the hell does 300 million fucking dollars in pure box office profit lead anyone to this conclusion? That's not even accounting for the tens of millions that will come in sales and liscensing. This kind of garbage risk assessment is what's strangling hollywood right now. When a tent-pole franchise is dropped before it even gets going, what reason do any up-and-coming screenwriters have to even try and get studios involved in their scripts? [editline]1st October 2015[/editline] I mean fuck just drop the no doubt near (if not over) 100 million dolllar advertising budget to begin with, it's so unnecessary in this day and age. The terminator series sells itself at this point.
