There are reports this afternoon that Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read is dead.
The notorious criminal and author, whose life story was turned into the eponymous film "Chopper" in 2000, was 58.

The misplaced admiration people have for this guy is weird and creepy.
chopper was/is a scumbag who came to fame by having a loud mouth and getting a very good movie made about him.
Half his tales are bullshit or greatly exaggerated according to various sources, including the feds who were investigating him at the time, and his comedy career is embarassing and consists of pub humor interspersed by that stupid stuttering he does.
