We are proud to announce that Jonas and Verena Kyratzes will be writing screenplay for Serious Sam 4! As you know, we already worked with Jonas on our critically acclaimed title The Talos Principle, and now we decided to extend the scope of our relationship to our beloved Serious Sam franchise. But Jonas brought in his secret weapon in form of Verena Kyratzes, and they both started shaping the story into something really awesome (not to say “blockbuster-y”). “I was a fan of Serious Sam before I got to work with Croteam, so I must admit I was sort of hoping I might be involved with the next one if The Talos Principle went well. But more than that, we immediately clicked with the team, were treated like family, and really wanted to keep working with them. Going to Croatia and working in the office just confirmed that.” – Jonas Kyratzes
http://www.croteam.com/big-sam-4-news-screenwriters-confirmed/ So we got DOOM 4, new Unreal Tournament and now Serious Sam 4.
So are we ever going to defeat Mental?
He even got the perfect coca-cola bottle. Let's hope they'll allow me to visit their studios. Also more hype for the Serious Sam 4. Let it be atleast as hard as SS3.
So are we ever going to defeat Mental?
Hopefully, I'm more excited about seeing if Croteam are ever gonna reveal how Mental looks like.
the year of the 4th title sequels
Valve seriously needs to catch up.
Serious Sam is my childhood, I'm pumped
I hope Damjan Mravunac is back on the soundtrack.
I just hope Serious Sam wont turn into a game with metaphorical meaning where Sam questions his existence and enemies represent the inner demons he fights and stuff like that.
I just hope Serious Sam wont turn into a game with metaphorical meaning where Sam questions his existence and enemies represent the inner demons he fights and stuff like that.
I hope they make fun of stuff like that, because that's the kind of thing they would do.
Why would that happen?
Because Talos Principle was all philosophical and stuff and I was making a joke.
The talos princible also has a joke text based serious sam game
I hope it's longer than 3 and has better level design. I finished 3 in a few hours with a friend of mine and I really felt like it wanted me to jump in and out of cover instead of just blowing shit up, which is odd for a Serious Sam game. Still fun, though.
it's a lot 'slower' on serious, especially while alone when you do it coop it's a breeze just because teamwork in a game like this comes naturally
I played the last level on serious and it took me more than two hours to beat (not sure what was the in game level time though, I think between 1 and 1 and a half hours). I think people who play Serious Sam games on easy or normal completely miss the point of the whole games, and coop also just makes it easy.
Coop doesn't increase the enemy count by much which is why you can usually complete it under par time with 3+ players. It's a bit unbalanced in favor of the player, but then again this is the case with all Sam games to a degree. I hope they bring back the per-player lives system though, there's nothing more annoying than shared lives across all players. What I really like about the Serious Engine is the editor. It might be a bit broken, has some restrictions and no documentation, but once you figure things out it's really easy to create new stuff for the game. I've read that Croteam changed the way they design their games when working on the Talos Principle, which really worked out for the quality of the end product. It's going to be awesome seeing a Sam game as polished as the Talos Principle, I can't wait.
Co-op is pretty fun if you play coin co-op, especially with 15 other people. It's just as fun to play with buddies as regular co-op but now the games aren't a complete steamroll.
I hope they bring back the per-player lives system though, there's nothing more annoying than shared lives across all players.
I prefer having a shared life pool because I like the idea of being punished as a team.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=266062550 For me the workshop made SS3 fun with all the new enemies and weapons they add.

I honestly didn't like 3, the level design was quite terrible and very narrow it missed the mark from fe and se.
I just want less annoying spider/arachnid enemies.
As far as annoying enemies go, as long as they get rid of technopolips and witch-brides, I'd be happy.

Can we not be in fucking Egypt
Not to be mean to the guy, he is cool and all, but I don't really care who writes the screen play for Serious Sam 4, I'm just psyched about us getting a new shotty bang-bang game!
Can we not be in fucking Egypt
Hey fuck you buddy the Egypt levels were great
Hey fuck you buddy the Egypt levels were great
What you mean the two whole games of desert?
the last time Serious Sam 4 was talked about, it was said it was gonna be in Paris at the very very start of the war between Mental and Earth, so before even Serious Sam 3.
That was just a rumor based on that one picture from the bonus content. With their limitations I wouldn't be surprised they reused the assets from Talos Principle and make a mix of The Second and Next Encounter with different time periods like Greece, medieval Europe and something else.
Serious Sam has a story?
