The number of deaths attributed to the Ebola outbreak has risen above 4,000, the World Health Organization says. The latest figures show there have been 4,024 confirmed or suspected deaths in the worst-affected West African nations of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Eight deaths are linked to the haemorrhagic fever in Nigeria and one in the US. In total, there have been 8,399 confirmed or suspected cases, mostly in West Africa.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-29577175
Sorry, not enough DNA. Doesn't present a threat. GG Ebola. EDIT: OH MY GOD. I'VE FALLEN TO A THREAD'S LOGIC! ON: Its spreading everywhere. Why is this happening right now?

I don't want to panic, and I want to have faith in the CDC and all that, but that debacle in Texas has got me a little worried. Sure, it was a fluke, but who's to say it was a one-time deal?

I have this now ex-friend on Facebook that was posting about how the U.S. military was going to bring back ebola so the government could put us into FEMA camps where we would all die. I say ex-friend because I made the mistake of trying to hold a rational debate with him and what I can only assume is the Alex Jones Fan Club/Conspiracy Theorist Quick Response Defense Force. I barely made it out alive, bastards encased me in tinfoil, tortured me with 9/11 conspiracy theories! They forced me to watch the history channel! In the end, I escaped the prison camp. They didn't put up any barb wire, or even a simple fence for fear that the government would seize their facility and turn it into a FEMA ran concentration camp. I mean, all I had to do was act like a brainless, irrational fuckjob, wrapped tin foil around my head, wore some old army fatigues and the disguise was complete. Walked out with the other guards when they changed shift.

If this was a statistical group it would equal 4 million Panic
I wonder if you knew where you were going with that when you started typing it.
If I knew where I was going with anything before I post half the time, it wouldn't be so polarized between train wreck and comedy bronze. Sort of defeats the point.
it's not the 2nd black plague yet... however this number is quite concerning and we don't want it to even reach at least 100K or more.
This is probably going to seem like an odd/over-reactive post once the OP ends up getting more friendlies than winners, but I'm kinda confused as to why this is getting rated winner considering that more than 4,000 people dying isn't exactly a good thing. Not really super offended by it; Just a little confused and unaware of the reasoning behind it.

Sadly, people are passing away from this, and it won't be a while till we see a possible drug that could cure those who have ebola. Hopefully, we'll never see a headline reading that someone obtained Ebola inside the United States, without leaving the US at all.
I don't want to die
So, only 8400 cases, mostly in West Africa. World health organizations are doing what they can to deal with this. Population of Guinea alone is over 10 million people (most cases reported so far). Nigeria is over 150 million. How is this even remotely unnerving? I mean, people are dying and that's terrible, but people die all the time. The disease is being studied and treatment is on the way. I don't get people in the west who panic about this. [editline]1[/editline] Looked up some graphs. From August 2014 to September 2014 there was an increase of 3.5k cases in total. Now THAT's not good. If this curve continues, it won't be good. [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/16/West_Africa_Ebola_2014_actual_case_and_death_linear_scale.png[/t] Columbia University did a forecast back in September on what we may have today. Current situation is more along the lines of improvement, which is nice. Worth being concerned about, but nothing to be scared of if you're in the west or anywhere away from outbreak concentration.

Most likely people in the west will be completely unaffected, but that doesn't mean the plague won't be devastating if left unchecked for much longer if the cases continue to escalate. It'll just get harder and harder to contain from what I can see.
[sp]It kills blacks[/sp]. Honestly though, why is this getting winners?
On tumblr, some dickheads were saying that the african guy who was denied treatment the first time was sent back on purpose because his apartment was a mostly black community so they could kill the blacks.
