Claudia Hidic, 17, was found dead near the back door of a man's home in the Tanglewood neighborhood of Fort Worth on June 28, her body face down, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The back door had also been kicked in. Her death, of a gunshot wound to the head, was ruled a homicide. But while friends took to Facebook to mourn the loss of the stunning young woman, who would have been a senior at Trinity High School this fall, police revealed Hidic had put herself in the line of fire by organizing a robbery that ended in gunshots. A source close to the investigation told the Star-Telegram that Hidic was the mastermind behind the theft, directing accomplices Curtis Fortenberry and Terrance Crumley, both 21, to rob a location she specifically chose. They reportedly entered the house through the back door, where between five and six people were home. A neighbor told the paper he saw four women running from the scene after gunfire erupted. The man who found her body outside of his house told police he did know who Hidic was. By July 1, a police spokeswoman told the Star-Telegram the homeowner had stopped talking to investigators, though he was not a “person of interest in the case.” In a press release to local media outlets, police confirmed Hidic had been inside the home prior to the robbery, and said she and the two men “engaged in criminal activity after planning and coordinating a robbery ... against the occupants inside,” KCEN-TV reported. Both Fortenberry and Crumley are now in police custody and have been charged with felony murder. They are being held on $100,000 bond. Stand your ground is a good law, as long as you know how to exercise your right to it. The fellow who killed this lass obviously didn't.
Your title made it seem like she was innocent. She wasn't.
love how the article focuses on her being hot, as if that even matters whatsoever
love how the article focuses on her being hot, as if that even matters whatsoever
obviously looking pretty makes you totally innocent yo
Man she must be stupid. You don't need to break into a mans house to steal all his possessions, if you look like that you just need to open your legs.
While its a damn shame that such a young woman was killed, this really is the textbook "Stand Your Ground" case, and she sure as hell wasn't innocent. If someone breaks into your home and you believe they could be a threat, you have every right to shoot to kill. You might try a verbal warning beforehand, but that's certainly no guarantee that the invader will back off.
That title should really be changed, its vague and misleading.
love how the article focuses on her being hot, as if that even matters whatsoever
It does. Beautiful people don't need to turn to a life of crime when their beauty is able to provide everything they need.
Man she must be stupid. Whats the problem? She robbed a house and got shot. I Would have shot her too. Equality, i dont give a fuck if your a dude or a chick if your licking my house then your getting some sort of retaliation.
It does. Beautiful people don't need to turn to a life of crime when their beauty is able to provide everything they need.
James Bond movies beg to differ
first of all, "stand your ground" is never mentioned in the article. You failed to mention that she was a criminal who had broken into someone else's house, which right away makes it NOT a stand your ground case. Secondly, even if it was "stand your ground", she wouldn't have been shot BECAUSE of the law. That doesn't even make any sense.
OP and first poster clearly didn't read the article. The first line really says it all, I don't understand why nobody can read that much.
she was hot now she has a hole in her head
as some sadists might say more holes huehuehue
This has absolutely nothing to do with "Stand Your Ground," SYG removes the duty to retreat from a public place, just someone playing up the "Hurrr Zimmerman" theme, Castle Doctrine deals with private property. She came into the house when they broke in, I don't know about you, but if someone suddenly kicks in the door to my house, they're getting shot as soon as they come through, I'm not waiting to check if they're armed home invaders or if they just need some sugar. You should know better than to rob houses in Texas of all places.
Your title made it seem like she was innocent. She wasn't.
Her life didn't deserve to end that day. Without stand your ground laws she would probably still be alive.

She broke into someone's house and the owner (understandably) shot her. She may not have been shot because of the law, but the law ensures that the owner won't face criminal prosecution for defending his home and life.
love how the article focuses on her being hot, as if that even matters whatsoever
Did you look at the source? wow, surprisingly accurate shot if it was only one and a direct hit to the head.
Her life didn't deserve to end that day. Without stand your ground laws she would probably still be alive.
She plotted with others and executed a plan to break into someone's home. Why is she any different than some unattractive middle aged burglar?
The article doesn't say that it's a "Stand Your Ground" case but it's definitely implied and I really can't think of any other way to interpret what happened. She broke into someone's house and the owner (understandably) shot her. She may not have been shot because of the law, but the law ensures that the owner won't face criminal prosecution for defending his home and life.
No. You don't know what the law is.
Her life didn't deserve to end that day. Without stand your ground laws she would probably still be alive.
I think you mean the castle law [editline]1[/editline] get your facts straight before you make a thread in this section please and thank you
No. You don't know what the law is.
Check the edit; I had gotten Stand Your Ground mixed up with the Castle Doctrine. :shame:
Check the edit; I had gotten Stand Your Ground mixed up with the Castle Doctrine. :shame:
Cool. The castle doctrine is a good thing then.
Her life didn't deserve to end that day. Without stand your ground laws she would probably still be alive.
You don't fuck around when it comes to a potentially deadly situation such as a home invasion. As I said above, it's not necessarily a bad idea to issue a verbal warning, but if they don't back off then you shoot to kill without hesitation.
I wonder what made her think that breaking into somebody's house in texas was ever a good thing.
The article doesn't even mention who shot her. It doesn't even mention "stand your ground" once nor is it even remotely related to SYG.
Her life didn't deserve to end that day. Without stand your ground laws she would probably still be alive.
Where is SYG even mentioned in the article?
my engineering teacher said he kept guns in places that no one would know for instance, in a box of cereal or in a salad bowl or behind a dvd player
I'm from Oklahoma, I'm pretty familiar with the gun craze.
Her life didn't deserve to end that day. Without stand your ground laws she would probably still be alive.
So because she broke into someones house with intent to steal his possessions she deserves to live? IMHO, if it was a man you probably wouldn't care.
