Yo boyeees, did this in pencil while sitting in front of a mirror... so it's from life yeeea. It's from a couple months ago but I never posted it up, and since it seems like everyone's doing it, I figured I'd join in on the fun. Replaced it with a better scan. Not bad, work on contrast though. Definitive blacks and whites are always good.
also how you handle shading. Blend it more. spend more time with your shading. Feel it. Become a part of it. Sing to it. Take it on dates. Have romantic candlelit dinners. Sex it. etc.
[QUOTE=Sajeno;18210351]Not bad, work on contrast though. Definitive blacks and whites are always good.[/QUOTE] It's just the scan, there are definitive blacks and whites in there, trust me. [editline]01:25AM[/editline] Whoa what the flying fuck who changed my avatar. [editline]01:25AM[/editline] No seriously what the fuck how did I get this weird ass dude as my avatar. [editline]01:25AM[/editline] I want my stop sign avatar back. [editline]01:28AM[/editline] I don't like blending my shading though, it looks amateurish if done quickly(especially with graphite). My hatching technique still needs love... but just wait and see, it'll get there. Thanks for the crit though k00lwhip, I'll definitely love my shading some more... I gotta focus on that too! So many damn things to improve on, not enough time. [editline]01:45AM[/editline] Seriously, wtf is up with the David Hasselhoff avatar. Is this some kind of joke? Perfumly? [editline]01:59AM[/editline] Hahaha you guys got hit by it too! Now we can be Hasselhoff brothers. No seriously it's mm3guy fucking around.
My avatar was changed too. lmao. As for the drawing, maybe work on blending the lines better so the shadows look more smooth.
I like the shading on the upper lip.
I agree, I like the portrait but I think you're capable of going one step further and adding in more contrast. [QUOTE=theguydude;18213594]I like the shading on the upper lip.[/QUOTE] woh you're cool :smug:
[QUOTE=theguydude;18213594]I like the shading on the upper lip.[/QUOTE] Thanks, it took me like three hours. [editline]09:52AM[/editline] I'll try and get a better scan in here, there's a shit ton of contrast on the real piece guys trust me.
i think you could be a good drawer if you got the proportions correct. the face is too long but the drawing itself is much better than i expected [editline]09:44PM[/editline] and the shading is balls but you already know that
Rusty, my face is pretty long, but specifically what do you notice wrong in the proportions?
you can't look at that and honestly tell me it's totally proportionate your face is oval shaped and your chin is far too pointy your ear is missing from where it should be according to those proportions (yes it's behind the hair but that means it's way to far up and on the side) and a lot more but you get the idea
Ok thanks man. I'm going to do another one of these soon, I'll keep proportions in mind more. Yea I'm a lazy ass and didn't draw the ear in :(. Thanks for the crits dude, much appreciated.
Search for some good tutorials on how to keep a face proportionate, or better yet get yourself an anatomy for artists book if you're keen on getting it right.
[QUOTE=Rusty100;18220705]Search for some good tutorials on how to keep a face proportionate, or better yet get yourself an anatomy for artists book if you're keen on getting it right.[/QUOTE] I got 6 anatomy books I study from all the time, I've been studying art by myself the entire year, that's where all my free time goes. Thanks though.
then you should probably know by now where things are and aren't supposed to be on a human body
[QUOTE=Rusty100;18220762]then you should probably know by now where things are and aren't supposed to be on a human body[/QUOTE] I wish man, maybe two years from now I'll nail it every time. I've been focusing on bodies up until now though, just recently I've been learning my way around faces. Sorry if I'm not as good as you think I should be, I had never drawn before last year and I'm trying my best.
