I honestly do think Obama went into things optimistically but the Republican side of things wore him down. However, that does not mean I dislike him, what he's done for this country and there's no way in hell I'd rather have Romney running things.

I was a kid throughout his presidency so I grew up thinking the president was just this Homer Simpson kind of guy.
These speeches aren't really the best way to judge his presidency though. Or maybe they are. Hell if I know, he left office when I was twelve.

I think the best way to judge his presidency was 9/11, the "nuclear bombs" in Iraq, the Patriot Act and how he dealt with the banking crisis of 2008. Either way you judge him, it's not going to be in his favor.

Every president, or most of them at least, is trying to help everyone and do the best they can in their situations. Some just don't know what that best is or how to reach it.
