7th of november in Julian calender is 25th october in Gregorian
My red heart for you, Lenine
Heh, we are doing the Russian Revolution.
Turned out they took over the winter palace by simply walking in while everybody else in the city went about their normal routine and didn't care about the government being overthrown at all.
Convert this day to communism.
They overthrew centuries of imperial tyranny......
...and traded it for 73 years of state tyranny.
What was the exact day that the coup happened?
What was the exact day that the coup happened?
Not too sure, but I think it happened in the morning because the remains of the provisional government were in the breakfast room of the winter palace at the time.
You absolutely have no idea how many people suffered because of Stalin. You don't know jack shit about communism, socialism and the soviet union, stop it.

I agree with this 100%
Actually the October Revolution was in November, their calender was ass backwards. Also, you know Nicholas was displaced for an elected provisional government for a year before Lenin lost an election and took power?
It took place with an armed insurrection in Petrograd traditionally dated to 25 October 1917 Old Style (O.S.), which corresponds with 7 November 1917 New Style (N.S.).
Communism bandwaggon for the win...
You have to admit stalin got stuff done and even though he killed a lot of poeple if it wasn't for him hitler would have taken a lot more land and russia would be a shot whole

Same could be said for Hitler, he killed a LOT of Jews yet he would be praised as a hero if instead he used his military genius to do something different and benificial to a lot of the world.
there are a hell of a lot of threads at the moment that seem very relevant to my history work.
yea but in the end I would say stalin helped more then he hurt with the stopping hitler and starting socialism and all that
On the other hand, if he hadn't been such a paranoid totalitarian shitstain, he wouldn't have ordered the Purges, as a result the Red Army would've retained experienced officers and driven off the Germans sooner.

How would you use your "military genius" in any way to do something beneficial for the world?

Stalin killed more than Hitler did, people just make more of a fuss about Hitler because he picked on people deemed inferior.

He sent my entire family to Siberia, where most of them perished.
Once my grandmother got back to Poland she married a man who wormed his way up the corrupt soviet government and then used his powers to get them out of Poland and to Britain.
I never met him, he died in 1990 from cancer and was my biological grandfather, he hated the soviet union.

Stop the spread of communism, that's one of the reasons Britain and the USA were reluctant to go to war with Germany.
Same could be said for Hitler, he killed a LOT of Jews yet he would be praised as a hero if instead he used his military genius to do something different and benificial to a lot of the world.
Hitler was in no way a "military genius". Shit, he was detrimental to German military strategy.
Bomb British airfields, wiping our their airforce and paving the way for Operation Sealion? Herp no! Let's go after their cities because i'm angry about them bombing Berlin, allowing their airforce to recover, exposing our bombers to more enemy fighters and losing the Battle of Britain.
Focus on building the more effective tanks, such as the Panther? Derp no! Tigers! Maus!
Research more effective firearms, like the Stg.44? Durr no! K98ks, because I served with it's predecessor!
Put resources into the important things? Blublublub no! V1s! V2s! and other stuff that makes me feel warm inside, but won't win the war.
etc etc.
He was a well-trained public speaker, knew how to use German anger to his cause (or to silence those who didn't support him) but he was not a general of any use.
