It's out today. It's free if you own the game, but if you don't you can pay $20 for just the discovery mode on pc only.

I'm not sure about the scholarly merit of the Discovery Tour but the fact that it comes bundled with the game is pretty nice. I've considered picking it up since it seems to have near unanimous approval.

It'll be pretty sick if they add VR in the future, kids could be immersed in those environments.

I don't get why they can't make the plot the thing that's inclusive while leaving the historical accuracy the same. Like, good on them for acknowledging it, but I don't think anyone would care about what gender the pot people are, lol.

It's not about the pot people (who are known to be two girls dancing, and is a real pot), it's about how open air schools found left and right in Greek areas have boys and girls studying instead of just boys. In essence, Ubisoft Montreal doesn't really try to put together a realistic depiction of a certain historical era but rather one that conveys a certain sentiment. In a majority of games you're supposed to feel at least somewhat comfortable and find the world likable, which includes Origins. If they find that the historical era is more likable and easy to relate to with things like more exaggerate architecture and a less sexist society then it's in their ability to adapt their own vision as they please. They don't always follow the same logic either. In a game like Unity where a strong part of the plot and atmosphere is about how the French revolution is incredibly fucking bloody, they actually made it worse than it was at the time because it fit the theme better. Basically it boils down to the art team trying to put together a compelling narrative rather than a realistic one.

I seriously thought they edited a pot to show both girls and boys. There's no reason at all to get upset over what you're describing.

Assassin's Creed has always had historical inaccuracies which were explained somewhere. Like in Brotherhood there's a cathedral which wasn't actually built until like 30 years after the game takes place, but the codex entry on it notes that it was too cool of a building to leave out.
Shells.
Kind of weird that a company as far left as Ubisoft would censor old statues like that.
Only in discovery mode. In the regular game they’re uncensored. There are also topless women near baths in game too. There’s a house in Heraklion you can peek in to to see/hear some BDSM type shit going on
Yet there are female NOCs walking around with exposed breasts [editline]24th February 2018[/editline]
Only in discovery mode. In the regular game they’re uncensored
I’m guessing because they marketed the mode towards schools
Shells.
They want to bring this mode into schools and in certain states in the US there's some really puritanical views on nudity. So I'm guessing they complied with the lowest common denominator in this case. Which is incredibly disappointing really. There should atleast be an option for censorship in admin controls or something.

There's a noticeable lack of piss and shit everywhere in games which in their majority predate the popularization of indoor plumbing and sewer systems.

I'm no historian, but the brief remnants of 6nd grade history in my head reminded me that the greeks had sewage systems several centuries BC. But I agree, it would be much filthier than depicted in the game. But I have to give the game props for representing the art style of the time period so very well in an open world environment.
