I found it quite fascinating and figured I'd share it with you people :)
And this is why I don't think that the communistic system of Cuba is a bad thing or should it be changed to a "better" system their lovely peace-loving neightbour has. But tell that to the retards at sensationalist news section
I like how when other countries send armies, Cuba sends medical personnel to care for the injured and exploited the way Cuban doctors seek to provide assistance during times of need across the world asking for no renumeration is beautiful
Pretty good documentary. Not sure how to feel about it though.
Adam Curtis has quite a few other good documentaries All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace is the most recent and I'd highly recommend that, it explores how numbers and statistics are used and argues that computers have failed to liberate humanity and instead have "distorted and simplified our view of the world around us". Covers Ayn Rand as well as some interesting theories about the human mind being like a computer. Really fascinating. They have assisted me personally in learning to question all that is around me and I value that. I used to go for conspiracy theories fairly easily but not so much anymore. I prefer to look into things properly before believing them. I may make separate threads for the others. I've watched them all, The Power of Nightmares being the final one I watched and, to be honest, I think I prefer the others.
these are really fucking good
glad you like them :) What ones you watched so far?
Watched the whole of the power of nightmares and two of the 3 parts of All Watched over by Machines of Love and Grace - very interesting and respectable in the way you only get from the bbc :)
Yeah I hope Adam Curtis does some more documentaries. The music and the way it is put together seem to fit very well in addition to the accessible and authoritative way that the subject matter is covered and interpreted. If you like All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace then you'll definitely like The Trap and The Century of Self as they kind of hit a similar vein but without being at all samey.
