Valve has announced that they are bringing the final version of the Steam Controller, some Steam Machines, new living room devices and the HTC Vive SteamVR HMD to GDC. Developers can request an appointment to try out the HTC Vive dev kit on the GDC floor. Valve will be presenting the glNext session in which they might or might not talk about Source 2.

Built on the SteamVR platform 90Hz display 1200x1080 resolution per eye "Custom" ergonomic dual-wield controllers with position tracking made specifically for VR by HTC 110° field of view (from a Valve partner, not confirmed by HTC) 360° rotational tracking to a 1/10th degree accuracy (the lasers HTC mentioned are not on the headset) (Optional) base stations for accurate positional tracking in a (up to) 15 by 15 feet (4.5 meter) room.

We're expecting Valve to show final controller design at GDC. Sorry for a huge ass post, would rather move half the shit here, and make it slightly more convenient for others.
https://twitter.com/iam8bit/status/572532085149200384/photo/1 Lambda and crowbar icon in the bingo. Event is held on 3/3 at 3 PM GET HYPED
If I remember correctly, Source didn't explicitly get announced with a game. It came at a later conference, which is just as likely now
Valve will be presenting the glNext session in which they might or might not talk about Source 2

they might or might not talk
...Really?
For HL fans this might be anticlimatic, but for Source modders like me, I'm even more hyped than I would be for a game announcement. Seeing Source 2's in-depth global illumination, foliage techniques, model integration, new shaders; that's what we live for. DOTA 2's Hammer 2 release was probably a soft launch and didn't include all of the next-gen MLG features.
, I'm even more hyped than I would be for a game announcement.
Same, can't wait to see all the cool ass content that is created with Source 2.
In the second screenshot there are source 2 hammer icons, so I'm guessing the engine being officially revealed isn't out of question

The logo has Hammer icons on it, I can only imagine the cool shit the new hammer/worldbuilder can do.
Can't wait to see if the Steam Controller is good or not. Though that might not happen yet if they're just showing the design (again).
The logo has Hammer icons on it, I can only imagine the cool shit the new hammer/worldbuilder can do.
this was pulled from google images, not sure if it is official, or someone getting creative.

Looking at the Vulkan (glNext) slides by Khronos, Valve is working on a debugger for it (slide 8), so it's more than likely they'll just show that during the glNext session. Source 2 might be mentioned, but don't expect anything.
Seeing Source 2's in-depth global illumination
I love the global illumination effect. Should older Valve games be ported to Source 2, I would be really happy.
I love the global illumination effect. Should older Valve games be ported to Source 2, I would be really happy.
There's a lot of rumors about L4D2 being ported to Source 2. I believe they started with the 'leaked' Source 2 screenshots found within a Powerpoint. I'd really like to see DoD: Source ported to Source 2, nice rename to DoD: Source 2, more weapons, and adding maybe the French or Japanese would be really cool imo.
3/3 at 3PM. HTC's Cher Wang saying they're "co-operating with Half-life". Crowbars and lambdas on the game-bingo cards. A physics-talk conference. All this considered, Half-Life 2 and Portal were very physics-based games and to my knowledge the last time Valve talked big about a physics engine was in tie with Half-Life 2. I mean come on. There's a ton more coincidences here than there usually are. It's quite ridiculous. I'm staying pessimistic, but they've really set themselves up here. :v:
I am going to remain cautiously optimistic.
Source Engine is a joy to work with. I really cannot wait for Source 2.
I'd like to see a long ass talk about something irrelevant only for them to finish with "Oh yeah, we're developing HL3"
I really think Valve would not announce a game such as Half Life on something as the GDC. It is more E3 material or perhaps a ARG.

if they do announce/tease a game i hope its a new ip dont get me wrong, the left 4 deads and half lives (?) were great games but they're pretty creative and i'd like to see them do something new
ricochet 2 is real i can feel it in my veins
if they do announce/tease a game i hope its a new ip dont get me wrong, the left 4 deads and half lives (?) were great games but they're pretty creative and i'd like to see them do something new
They need to at least give closure to HL at some point after the ending of EP2 and at this point the sooner the better. Or at least that's what my cravings tell me anyway.
Source Engine is a joy to work with. I really cannot wait for Source 2.
Really? I may just be stupid, but just to compile anything Source related into VS, and begin working from there was a pain in the ass for me. Though, I really didn't screw around with Source too much; C++ was a pain. I remember speaking with the NMRiH devs, and one of their programmers told me that working with Source was a huge pain in the ass.
Do note that we'll be updating the "Valve at GDC 2015" blog post throughout GDC so OP won't always be up to date.
Noted.

Or alternatively they go for some crazy experiment where a multiplayer titles is almost completely outsourced to the community... somehow.
The only thing I really care about here is the VR thing because its specs are a fuckload better than those of the Oculus Rift, now the question is, can I use it with my glasses on/will it have adjustable lenses

My experience was just mapping and modeling, with a bit of Lua for GMod. If you're trying to make a full SourceMod, I can imagine it will be quite tough.
I still say I don't need a HL3, just and Episode 3. Some cliffhangers are great on movies, but they don't work so well in games.
i just want them to announce something pls valve pls
Will Source 2 have better physics?
