Last week I attended Sheffield Business awards as we were nominated for an award. It was a very surreal experience and not my usual scene but I thought it would be nice to be a ten-bob millionaire for a night. It started with a nice champagne reception. Naturally I necked as many as I could as the stuff was free. Here is me enjoying a delightful glass attempting to look like a rich, sophisticated bastard.

After a while we were led through into a large room with lots of tables. There was a carnival theme which I thought was quite weird as I expected everything to be a bit serious. They had a couple of girls hanging above the stage wrapping themselves in towel drapes and doing aerobics. As impressive as they were I kind of wanted one of them to fall just to see everyone’s reaction. Nobody fell which is a good thing I suppose.

Paul Ross was presenting the awards, for those who don’t know he is Jonathan Ross’s brother. I think he’s a prick personally but beggars can’t be choosers. In fact fuck that yes we can! I wanted a real celebrity!
A few awards were handed out but I didn’t care as long as the free wine was still flowing. Shortly after, we had our meal, it was fucking amazing! My starter was tuna steak which was pretty awesome. This was followed by a mixed fruit sorbet to “cleanse the pallet” and then the most fantastic piece of fillet steak ever. God it was incredible. I would have taken a picture but I was too busy filling my gob.
As the night carried on we came to the award we were nominated for. I’m not going to mention which award it was because the last thing I want is people finding out who I work for and potentially doing nasty things to us. Anyway, we fucking won! I have never felt so proud to be part of a small team in my life.

As any self respecting award winner would do, I had to get wrecked. And that’s what I did. After many glasses of wine and a few JD’s I can’t remember anything. The last thing I remember was dancing around singing along to Black Eyed Peas. I woke up the next day with a sore head and a bottle of wine I stole from the event.
