Purchased separately, Prime Video will cost $8.99 per month — one dollar less than Netflix’s most popular plan. Since Amazon launched its subscription video service five years ago, it has been available only through the Prime membership program, which currently costs $99 per year. The company has used video as a key benefit to lure more customers to Prime, but Amazon sees a ripe opportunity to sell an SVOD service priced directly to compete with Netflix as well as Hulu.
If only it was worth it. I admit I've been watching it a good bit recently, but there's only like 3 shows that I want to watch on it. Also a year of $8.99 a month is more than prime is...
i guess this could see some use, i definitely don't mind spending the extra buck a month just to have the free shipping along with the video streaming, though.

Yeah, apart from The Man in the High Castle, there isn't an Amazon original show that I've wanted to watch and their selection of free movies is pretty slim, although they did just add in a bunch of Coen Brothers movies.

I watch it with my dad because he read all the books.
Amazon prime is insanely worth it for the free shipping worthless if you don't use it for that since prime video is cool and all but, not that exciting. [editline]17th April 2016[/editline] 100$ a year saves
I just subscribe to all the major streaming services instead of paying for cable/satellite, much more enjoyable.
But, full Prime is cheaper???
Additionallyi, f you have any sort of college ID, Prime is $59 a year and you get that price for 4-6 years and includes everything from full Prime
I guess this can be used for the relaunch of top gear and other shows. So that way they can at least get a wider outreach for where the show was popular
But, full Prime is cheaper???
Yeah but there used to only be a full year option. Now you can rent for a month to binge on a show and then cancel it.
wow thats actually a great deal with netflix being twice the cost, but then again Amazon's video service is more geared to getting you to buy something

I could have sworn it said I would lose prime video if I switched from a regular aub to a student one Fuck

They've been filming for some time now and should have something up around winter. It won't be called TG for copyright reasons, but itt'l be on Prime.
student prime is exactly the same, I have it best thing ever, the free two day shipping is supreme, I ordered a book for a friend friday night and it arrived at his door saturday morning, shit was incredible prime instant video is kinda okay alright I guess. Having prime I've found that I've never really used it. I'll watch one or two things on there then when I go back it's not prime streaming anymore so that's disappointing so I have to find something different to watch and never usually find anything there. prime music is alright too but I have google play which is a million times better so it's also useless. with the two streaming services being poor, a year of prime is still worth it though for free shipping alone.
for 9$ its worth it just to watch all the stargates, star treks, and battlestars
Oh cool, maybe I will be able to see the top gear guys new show after all. Like fuck was I gonna but prime to watch one show.
I signed up to this last week, had a look around their library then cancelled it after 30 minutes. There's nothing good on it.
I signed up to this last week, had a look around their library then cancelled it after 30 minutes. There's nothing good on it.
same with netflix honestly US has a great library but basically anywhere else is shit
Pretty sure they did this because of top gear. People won't pay $100 for one show, they'll find another means. Maybe this will help elude that.
If it came with Prime it would have a leg to stand on, but Netflix is always gonna be the king of shit like this. I don't know anyone with a Hulu account or a Shomi account.
What do you mean? It already comes with standard Prime. This is just a standalone option for just their video services.
Prime video is amazing. I was able to watch Lost and Supernatural from the beginning without paying for the dvds, ever. Also, every time I want to buy a movie I look if it's on Prime, I watch it there, and boom money saved. 9 $ a month is okay, if you want to watch like a few movies and then cancel it.
Even Netflix's most expensive plan is $12 a month, definitely not twice the price.
$49 a year for students, $49/12=$4.08 per month, plus a 6-month free trial period. I don't bother with Netflix. And I definitely make use of that $4.08 in shipping costs alone every month. I set up my Prime account on my parents' TV back home and my mom loves it. She's into all of those quirky old movies so it's perfect for her. I suggested Netflix but she says she's got a watchlist a mile long already. But yeah, this $9 thing is not too revolutionary. Even the normal prime is $99/12=$8.16 per month.
Additionallyi, f you have any sort of college ID, Prime is $59 a year and you get that price for 4-6 years and includes everything from full Prime
you also get a year free as well i believe
you also get a year free as well i believe
49$ a year, and it's 6 months free
