I'm thinking about joining Christianity, should I?

Hello facepunch, so far I have observed you and the internet on your opinion of Christianity. The majority of you decline it within 2 post of it being mentioned.
Also just to say I have been attending bible class for the past year on how to be saved and become a christian. The evidence of god is quite compelling and soon I am thinking about being baptized. Also when you think about it what is there to lose when you become a christian.
So far I am agnostic you could say, but I stay on the side of Christianity. Although I have been thinking should I actually get baptized and join God or become atheist. I don't hate atheist, although some of them show ignorance when it comes to religion.
Most of you atheist give yourselves an evil image of hating all religious beings. On the other hand some Christians go crazy and say you will obey God or burn in hell. I would like you Facepunch to help me decide on whether to become atheist or join the religious sect of the world.

Yes. Even if it Isn't real, then you don't know you died like what they say, but if it is and you don't believe, then you go to hell.
Which one is more logical.
99% of Facepunch is Atheist. What do you think they're going to say?
Never mind, this is always a bad idea.
Yes, become Christian. It'll be the smartest thing you've ever done.
No, it steals holidays from pagans.
What do you want me to do? Tell you that Hitler was Christian? Joining a religion is your choice. It's not going to give you brain cancer.
I'd say go for it, I'm Christian and I don't have any of the stereotypes that people place on Christians here.
99% of Facepunch is Atheist. What do you think they're going to say?
99% of the people I am around are Christians so I would like another opinion from non-religious people.
It's your decision, don't let others choose for you.
Go for it. I don't see what's the point of being Atheist if you just believe you die and that's it. At least believe in something just in case so SOMEHOW it's true you at least will have a great afterlife.
so what is this compelling evidence of god you speak of
if you become a christian how will you argue on FP anymore!! its like suicide.

You can't fool God. If you go to Hell for not believing in Christianity, YOU ARE GOING TO GO TO HELL EVEN IF YOU SAY YOU BELIEVE IN CHRISTIANITY WHEN YOU TRULY DON'T.
My advice:
Don't believe in anything because someone told you to. Just believe in what you believe, whatever it may be.
Stay agnostic.
don't listen to us, don't listen to them.
And if you do, and you are unhappy with your decision, we are not liable.
decide for yourself.

oh shit man your right
good thing i do believe he exists
sucks for anyone who doesnt lol
Being an agonostic theist is the best way to avoid athiest and christian criticism at the same time
It really is up to you on which you believe. Just don't be a sheep and follow everything you hear and try to determine your own route.
yes what compelling evidence of god
I'd say go for it, I'm Christian and I don't have any of the stereotypes that people place on Christians here.
I'm the same.
Go for what you feel is right. Most really don't want to force it on you, we just want to help.
Don't become one of the stereotypical nuts though.

I am just asking for another opinion. The final decision will be mine.
Sure, i have a few christian freinds, they dont fit the stereotype at all
And im an atheist, they dont care, be like them.
However, if you become an evangelicist, someone has to murder you.
[editline]fuck off[/editline]
Dont Bad Spelling me, I dont know how to spell it and i cant be assed to look it up.
If you believe in it, definitely go for it!

Eh, screw it.
Honestly I don't see the point. I'm atheist, but I'm still open to ideas. However, the idea of an omnipotent being who created everything and watches over humanity, is preposterous to me. Why would anyone bother with this tiny planet? You would think such a powerful being would have more important things to do, like watch galaxies collide or something.
Why should you believe in a soul, a god, and other supernatural stuff? You might as well believe that aliens have been visiting the earth when the Egyptians were around, and that Atlantis exists.
I don't want to give the "evil image of hating all religious beings", but to me most religions sound like they're based on a fairy tale. Sure, some of the morals that religions teach are good, but you don't need a religion to teach you that; parents, school, life experience can do that just as well, and (imo) with less bias.
That and you have to go to church on sundays when you could be sleeping. Yes I'm a lazy fuck, but I need my sleep, sundays are the only day I get to sleep in D:
Random Stuff:
On a related note we come to apologists. The word “apologist” stems from the Greek word apologia which means something like “to make a defense for.” Christian apologists therefore are people who try to defend the following Old Testament verse, Deuteronomy 20:16-18:
“However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the LORD your God has commanded you. Otherwise, they will teach you to follow all the detestable things they do in worshiping their gods, and you will sin against the LORD your God.”
I haven’t heard that one before in Sunday school, have you? Seems like God might be a bit of a racist, genocidal murderer. His logic is a bit weird too. “You must kill all of these people or they will make you do bad things.”
Gay People Deserve to Die (Romans 1):
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Plain Strange
Ezekiel 23:20
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.
Sexist [1 Cor]
“Let the women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as also saith the law.
“And if they would learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home: for it is shameful for a woman to speak in the church.”
Umm, if you want to see what Christians actually believe, check the catechism..

The point of being an atheist is being reasonable.
