It's been a few years since a Need for Speed game popped up on Android, but EA announced last year that NFS: No Limits would arrive this spring. The game has already launched on iOS in a few regions, and the early reports indicate EA is up to its same old in-app purchase tricks. Actually, it's maybe even a little worse. No Limits will charge you to fill up the tank, which is funny because that sounds like a limit. Can't be, though. The game is called "no limits."
-snip-
EA will never learn.
That's some Candy Crush Saga shit right there.
It's for a phone-game, they live of micro-transactions.
No limits? Ay?

No limits on how low EA will scoop in the money barrel.
I guess it kind of adds a new gameplay mechanic. Wait a minute, this game is designed to teach people how to safe gas!
EA saves the earth, calling it now.
I hope it's as expensive as real life fuel

I'm still sad when I see games that are nothing more than money-making machines with "whales" as their target demographic.
It's hard for video games to be recognised as art when even publisher don't treat them as such.
Seems like a standard energy system for a mobile game. Sadly nothing new for EA.

More immersive that way.
I will drive a Tesla, EA can use my phones battery for fuel.

Soon it may cost more than real fuel if the current price trend sustains :v:

Fuck I thought this was from The Onion. They've surpassed the boundaries of satire.
Eat shit and die already EA
I really don't see what makes this significant other than it being EA.
This isn't the first android game that had this sort of system set up, the only difference is that instead of calling it energy or stamina or whatever they decided to call it fuel and that's it.
Honestly, there's money in the free to play mobile games and they're not doing anything that isn't what you don't already see from these games.

B--but it's Dutch
This is not new by any means. Ubisoft pulled this too with Trials Frontier last year. Not that it mattered since it got frigging impossible at one point.
Or, under a different name but same concept, Dungeon Keeper anyone?
Please I beg people.. Stop buying their shit games. They are only in it for cash.

Uh, isn't the german word for that Tankanzeige? How does that come close to Brandstofmeter :v:
Need for Speed: Mo' Limits

It is. No idea how he could mess up dutch with german while beeing german himself.
Technology has surely gone far.
RIP nfs series.
How could they call the game No Limits and not laugh at the person who proposed this idea.
Uuuuh this is kind of the usual for mobile games? Especially if they're free, idk why EA is being the big bad evil guy here when half the app store does the same thing.

It has more to do that they do this to a well established franchise. I mean, remember what they pulled off with Dungeon Keeper? They are just using franchises to get as much money as possible, especially with these freemium games.

If an OP about EA or Ubisoft is even vaguely negative, the thread immediately shortcuts to circlejerking over how terrible they are.
Never mind that this is basically the same wait-or-pay functionality that most 'freemium' mobile games have, dressed up in a thematic way, it's EA so it's money-grubbing and it's terrible. I'm sure we will now hear the 'even if half the app store does it that doesn't make it okay' response, as if most of the posts in this thread were complaining about the industry-wide trend rather than EA specifically being the corporate incarnation of Satan.

A well-established franchise that isn't well-established on mobile. It's a different game with a different profitability model on a different platform with a different audience.
