Recommend some metal bands to me, I'm not really into emo/screamo/post-hardcore/metalcore stuff. Not a big fan of black or death metal either but i'll give it a try if you really think it's worth listening to.
Gojira, Sepultura/soulfly/cavalera conspiracy, Lamb of God, Mudvayne off the top of my head
How about you start with what you DO like.
Anything not listed up there.
White Zombie, Opeth, Pantera, Metal Church, Neurosis. I say discover some of the classics first first you haven't already.
Power metal, the whole genre.
Pantera, Lamb of God, hatebreed, devildriver, Opeth, Behemoth

Symphonic Metal! EVERYTHING
Symphonic Metal! EVERYTHING
I'll second this, too. (2:15+)

One word: [tab]1st part, the whole song lasts 22 minutes![/tab]
Odd you used that as an example, it's the only Epica song that I don't like
It's my favorite Epica song. Simply because it's so long (and I don't listen to Epica :v:). I'll admit I found the song by playing it in Frets on Fire. Very fun song to play, too. :buddy: [editline]5th November 2010[/editline]
One word: [img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/fi/thumb/4/43/Meshuggah_Logo.png/250px-Meshuggah_Logo.png[/img_thumb] [tab]1st part, the whole song lasts 22 minutes![/tab]
Personally, I'm not that into Meshuggah's "I." If I were to recommend a Meshuggah song, it'd probably be NMCC, simply because that's the only Meshuggah song I can really stand, along with "Soul Burn" and "Corridor of Chameleons."
Gojira Meshuggah Bloodbath Opeth Suicide Silence Blotted Science Hail of Bullets Mayhem Oh and Pantera of course, what was I thinking.
Zonata Children of Bodom Between the Buried and Me Sonata Arctica Finntroll
3 Inches of Blood Meshuggah (as mentioned twice) Periphery Cloudkicker (It's only one person but okay, it's awesome.} Animals as Leaders Wretched Born of Osiris Suicide Silence Symphony X The Empire Shall Fall (Yeah I know it's metalcore but it is good metalcore.) Strapping Young Lad That from the top of my head. [editline]16:38PM[/editline] Also ''emo/screamo/post-hardcore'' are all subgenres of hardcore-punk so that is not metal.

not a big Meshuggah fan I like most of the bands formed from their style but I don't really like Meshuggah :v:
not a big Meshuggah fan I like most of the bands formed from their style but I don't really like Meshuggah :v:
Blasphemy against the gods! Nah just kidding. It takes some time getting used to, but after a week non-stop listening to them I was over it.
Power metal, the whole genre.
I third this. Try: - Sonata Arctica - Blind Guardian - Sabaton - Kamelot - Gamma Ray Also melodic death metal, if you don't mind a little growling. - Dark Tranquillity - In Flames - Amon Amarth Also, Amorphis / Ayreon / Opeth.
The last two Dream Theater albums have been heavy, along with Train of Thought, which is also one of their heavier albums. I'd give them a listen. Systematic Chaos, Black Clouds & Silver Linings, and Train of Thought
