http://www.destructoid.com/assassin-s-creed-will-be-annual-until-players-say-stop-250038.phtml
Ubisoft Montreal's head honcho, Yannis Mallat, recently told Eurogamer at GDC that they have no intention of taking a breather, as he believes that fans are eager for more. "The players will tell us. Right now there are more and more coming into the franchise, so I don't see that day ... It's our breakthrough. When you have quality content, the frequency of coming out with the game is not an issue at all."
They're kind of the only studios that can do this with quality, seeing how they have 12 fucking studios working on it. Oh my gosh the credit sequence for AC3 was like 45 minutes long!
I personally don't mind until they start going downhill.
I'm still slogging through Revelations, fuck this game is bad. Haven't gotten AC3 yet, is it remotely similar? If I hate Revelations will it be any good? I hope this doesn't become just another annual series that I have no interest in, I loved all the rest.
You mean it already wasn't?
You can't just release a game every year that is always of amazing quality. Even if it manages to stay great, at some point it just won't be as good / better than the old ones. Assassin's Creed was great, but after playing 5 of them, I don't want to touch one anymore, just got bored.

Only reason I played AC3 was for the story. Looking back, that was a retarded idea I had in my head.
Oh dear. It's not necessarily quality that will decline, but the basic mechanics will probably feel boring pretty quickly. Having a game released every few years would stop that, as the focus would more likely be on the setting. Look at CoD. Still popular, but have the mechanics changed? Not really.
AC4 looks a lot different than any other AC game. I don't think it's really losing that much quality.
Oh my gosh the credit sequence for AC3 was like 45 minutes long!
I always sit through the entire credits for the assassins creed games. Hate what they're doing with the franchise though and I'm only playing the games still because of the story they managed to build up in the first and second game. Seeing how the completely fucked up subject 16 I hope they won't ruin anything else.

I can't say with any certainty, but AC4 at least looks to contain fixes to their problems and hopefully they know just how much they're going to have to do keep this series alive and "fresh". Even CoD is seeing falls in annual sales due to it's repetition, everyone in the industry knows the repetition is not garnering them a whole lot of love and loyalty.
Assassin's creed: Modern Warfare
How long until we get video game shows with 20 minute campaign episodes released every week at a $5 charge per episode or $100 for a season?

i stopped paying attention to assassins creed after brotherhood or whatever the first AC was dope because the freerunning assassin stuff was a new concept, it seems like they just started churning out new ones by replacing the backdrop and writing in some more story to keep you going, with a couple of new features that didn't really change the game substantially i don't understand the appeal of the new AC games
I thought it was already. Either way, they've got a lot of studios working on them, so I doubt it would be hard for it to get really, really stale really fast.
I personally don't mind until they start going downhill.
It's been going downhill since the second one with the Italian guy as the main character. It got even worse with AC3, the main character in that game is absolutely unlikable.
This is a bad idea, RIP Assassin's Creed series.
uhhh guys it's been annual since AC2... this story was just stating they are going to continue doing that until people start not liking the games or whatever
This is a bad idea, RIP Assassin's Creed series.
It's been an annual series, this isn't new they're just making it official now.
This is a bad idea, RIP Assassin's Creed series.
It's been annual since like 2009 dood.
Madden NFL 2015 FIFA 15 MLB 2k15 Assassin's Creed 2015 COD 2015
All of the Assassin's Creed games have been fantastic, and if they stay fantastic I have absolutely no issue with this. I mean, Ubisoft have a shitload of studios to make them anyway.

I loved Brotherhood, but if I had a game released every year I would probably revert to 'I got to one location, stab him, got to another location...' rather than seeing anything else in the game.

rip
It's been going downhill since the second one with the Italian guy as the main character. It got even worse with AC3, the main character in that game is absolutely unlikable.
haytham was much more interesting
I really wanted to like assassins creed, I got number 3 free with my gfx card, enjoyed it for a bit but I cant seem to get pulled into the universe, I want to play it and like it but I lose motivation, same happened with Brotherhood.
