[editline]15th May 2016[/editline] For those not familiar with DraQu, he's the dude who broke the Devil Daggers record back when it came out. His personal best is 612 seconds! I was wondering how much longer it was going to take for him to finish a Ultra-Nightmare run, he got close many times before
I was hoping they'd let the player skip all the exposition and waiting for the talking to finish on this difficulty level but apparently not.
Sooooooooooo Does the gameplay actually change at all? I haven't seen much of DOOM so I can't say if they took the "do less damage, take more damage" approach...

I am not sure if Ultra Nightmare specifically changes AI or if it just copies Nightmare, but the harder the difficulty, the smarter your enemies. They go from standing still and being mostly braindead tosspots in the easiest difficulty to taking the initiative, flanking, leading shots and baiting you on Ultra-Violence. For instance on UV I have seen imps run away from me when I was being aggressive and seek me out when I was trying to hide. On several occasions I've been baited into a corner by an imp so that a hell knight or a pinkie demon could bumrush me with no way out. Enemies will also try to stay out of sight as much as possible and will use the map to their advantage by avoiding you entirely and backstabbing you. Even Pinkie Demons will sometimes refrain from charging you until you've got your back turned on them.
if that's true then that's pretty sick even original doom didn't go that far, i think, you just die faster on higher difficulties
The original Doom only changed enemy and weapon spawns for most difficulties, with the easiest doubling your ammo but having very few foes, and Nightmare doubling your ammo but making enemies respawn randomly as well as move and attack far faster. There were no actual damage or health value changes between difficulties but simultaneously the original Doom's AI was so simple that it really didn't need damage changes. On Hurt Me Plenty in Doom 4, the AI is sort of an upgraded version of the original AI I guess. They don't lead shots, they charge head-on into my Super Shotgun, and they're threatening but suicidally so. If what Ganerumo said is legit, and I will say that it is since the Snapmap enemy AI seems to default to Ultra-Violence since they're leading shots on me everywhere, then it's a real hard mode this time around instead of just "lots of enemies."
I made it to hell in a single sitting and it was stressing me the fuck out, especially due to a whole series of near death scenarios. I paused the game and quit. The game on Ultra Nightmare doesn't save your progress unless you finish a level and then save. :suicide:
Is it the game or do his mouse movements look kinds... artificial? It feels really really weird watching this to me.
Holy fuck im currently at 2h:45m mark in your video on Ultra Violance. It took me 12 hours to get to that part! I feel like I got 2 more levels to do yet in your video its half of a more game? I dont get it. This game is quite lenghty if you do all the content then. To anyone saying im slow. No I take my time. Do challanges, Rune trails, Secrets. Hidden areas. Oh I didnt realise this guy is basiclly a god. And speedrunner.
Neat, didn't realise DraQu did speedruns, always see him hanging out in the Reflex Discord
