Okay, so this is my starting point. I know I'm a skinny baby man, but I'm starting down the road to actually being a fit dude.
[T]http://i.imgur.com/xAugit1.jpg[/T]
I'm sick of playing video games 8 hours a day and I'm sick of being a useless unmotivated wanker. I've got solid goals set and a timeframe to do them in and even for the last couple of days I've been working at it. Am already feeling great and have only played about an hour of video games in 3 days. I also researched and ordered about $400 worth of supplements that should last me a couple of months so that should keep me motivated as well.
I have a MASSIVE fear of the gym for some reason,I think it's just the fact that my max bench is like 50kg atm and I'm gonna be around buff dudes. But tomorrow after work I'm going to signup and give it my all and ignore any bullshit, ask anyone who can help questions and accept the fact that I'm a little bitch (for now). Also if anyone can give me basic gym advice, just random Do's and Dont's I'd really appreciate it because as I said. Anxiety is through the roof at the moment!
I'm going to try post a photo of progress every couple of weeks and will probably have a lot of questions so I'd appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks again for supporting and motivating me guys.

well i play video games all day and i'm pretty fit, i usually drink alot too so dont worry too much about you playing vidya.
anyways basic do's or don't?
Do:
1. Research your fucking excersises, one thing i hate is watching newbies do tricep pushdown or deads without proper form. It's like watching the holocaust.
2. Eat well. Don't be afraid of eating, just keep it clean.
3. Find a decent routine, a split or SS works. (i prefer the split, though it's more scary for beginners due to you having to do tons of excersises you've never done before)
4. Show up in proper fucking gym attire, don't meet up with jeans and jogging shoes. Too many people do this at my gym and it looks really damn stupid. I may sound harsh but when i say this but trust me.
Dont's:
1. Don't fucking say: I WANNA LOWER MY BODYFAT % when you are like 65 - 68KG thats stupid as shit. Eat well and train.
2. Personal opinion. Don't venture into dieting like at the start since it'll demotivate you since dieting is harder then working out. Get consistent with your training when you do hardcore dieting.
3. Don't give up if you don't get the results you expected. It will come dont worry about that.
4. Don't compare yourself to other people. It has no use, you are focusing on you. Genetics are different, focus on improving yourself and never compare yourself to other or the big guys at the gym.
thats some i guess just ask if you need questions answered.
That was really helpful thankyou!
I guess my fear of it came from comparing myself to others which I have done my whole life. I'm working on it a lot though.
My eating for the last few days has been great. I used to eat all kinds of shit (chocolate, snacks, chips, fast food). But since I've actually made a nutrition plan of sorts I'm enjoying the good food better and I feel a lot better already.
The video games thing is more linked to my motivation. When I play it's all I wanna do. Hell I've passed up sex with my girlfriend for games haha. So I think cutting at the moment is better for my health and my life in general.
Also I'm just going to do stronglifts along with cardio every day and some basic callisthenics (pushups, situps, pullups. Does that sound like a good starting point?
My ultimate goal is to be "Fit" basically. I've got about 6 months to achieve this as I'm pursuing a position in the defence force and for the position I have to be at peak fitness. Basically an all-rounder. So looks aren't overly important (they are a bit), I just want to feel my results for the moment.
Not every day, you need rest days to let your muscles recover.
Your dropbox picture is 403.
newsflash: everybody starts from the bottom
[editline]10th July 2013[/editline]
even the buff dudes started there so please, don't be afraid
Workout A
Squat 5x5
Bench press 5x5
Barbell row 5x5
Workout B
Squat 5x5
Overhead press 5x5
Deadlift 1x5
This alright?
I need to ask this again since I'm going to the gym for the first time in a few hours!

I've been highly advised that cardio everyday is fine. I'm not doing weights everyday.

I don't understand?
403 is a web error and i think it signifies something forbidden

Fixed..?
Workout A

Good, but this is better:
Workout A
Squat 5x5
Bench press 5x5
Barbell row 5x5
Workout B
Squat 5x5
Overhead press 5x5
Deadlift 1x5
Pull ups 3 x As many reps as you can
I always look at training as a piece of pie consisting of 3 pieces.
1). A good work out.
2). A good rest
3). A good diet.
If you do all these 3 right you will see optimal results. If you only workout and rest but don't eat enough, you won't grow as fast. If you train 7 times a day and don't let you body rest you won't grow as fast either. If you..etc you get the point.
I recently discovered this site: http://myfitnesspal.com/ where you can easily make you own diet/eating schedule. The main thing you need to focus on is getting enough protein everyday, try to go for 1.5x / 2x your bodyweight in protein gram everyday. So if you weigh 70kg, try to get 105 - 140 grams of protein everyday. This mean you will need to eat a lot of things like: chicken, fish and dairy products like milk & quark. Try to get as much of your protein from these 'natural' products and fill in the gaps with supplemets / whey shakes ( these are not a meal replacement! )
As much for the work out itself, try to find a gym buddy. This makes going to the gym 10x more easy and also more fun. Besides this you can also push eachother to go a bit further and make it a competition.
Thanks for the advice!
As far as I can tell at the moment I won't be able to get a training partner at all. But that's okay.
Just wanted to ask. If someone is using the using I need to use, should I just sit down and chill beside the machine, ask them if I can work between sets or go and do something totally unrelated to what I need to do?
Just confused on the right way to go about sharing the equipment. Chances are I'll be all alone anyway because I work late and plan to go after work and the the gym is right across the road from me and looks empty after I finish work everynight.

You challenge him to a lift off then you fly to the moon and secure your position as the alpha male to have permanent access to the machine. Alternatively you just ask him how many reps/sets he has left then go do other exercises, you can either just skip over it and go right to your other exercises and come back to that one later or add some filler exercises, like if I'm on back day and I wait for a machine, I'll just go do shitload of pull ups until the guy is done.
Don't be afraid of the gym, we all began at the bottom and I can say from experience that quite literally no one cares about how much you can or can't lift, we're all there for our personal goals and we have much more respect for a guy like you who benches 50kg and actually tries than some dude who could bench 100 kg but sits on his fat ass all day not actually doing anything.
heigou you fat fuck

if you even fucking think of cutting im going to find you and punch you in the fucking mouth judging by your picture.
yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh u mirin the loose skin
I find if equipment is being used, I just go do a different exercise. Majority of the time it's the power rack that's being used (I like to squat first), and so depending on the day, I'll either go do Bench press or Overhead Press.
Though now that I think about it, I don't HAVE to use the power rack for squats. In the same area there is a "Tower Of Power", which is this big complex tower that resembles a jungle gym in a way. The posts have slots so you can attach shit to it and so I can attach hooks to hold a barbell to do squats.
I've actually used it for OHP a few times, but I've avoided doing squats since there are no safety bars to catch the weight like in the power rack. I guess it's more of a mental comfort thing really...it's not like I fail more reps than complete them. And if I really need to get rid of the weight I'll just be a dick and drop it on the floor.
I'm fine with people working in between my sets, but when it's vice versa, I'm just like ahh fuck it I'll wait. I guess I'm still a pussy inside. Plz make fun of me and humiliate me.

Haha No! No Cutting at all!
I've got a good while before I even think of that. Being ripped isn't a concern at the moment.
why in god's name did you buy $400 worth of supplements
most of that had better been protein/pre-workout caffeinated death or else i'm going to slap your shit
currently you sound like you're overpumping your own confidence about these things, though having a little too much cant always be bad. just be sure to progress slowly.
Likely that it's just a 5 gram tub of pre-workout because that shit is fucking expensive wtf ryz0 is rich irl can't believe this shit
$400 of supplements holy shit
and ye heigou holla holla get dolla $$
$400 just to last. AUD too. I only really bought that much to save shipping cost so it's much cheaper in the long run, but will last me a long while too.
It's nothing fancy. Protein, Pre-Wokout, Multis, Casein and Creatine. Was cheap as for it all and the money I spent motivates me to actually use the shit and not have it sitting around.

I probably am :/
But I don't think I've ever been as motivated to do anything as I am for this.
And yer as much as I'll "feel" like a loser just because of my already built in fear of the gym. I'm starting stronglifts from the lowest it suggests. I've realised I'm not doing this for anyone else and frankly unless they want to help me I don't care what they think.
Also, Signed up at the gym today! Feel much better about it already!
That's good, you shouldn't care what they think because chances are they just don't care themselves, they're there for their own goals like I said and if anything they respect you. When I see a new guy at the gym and I always see him and see him grow over time I'm like "Damn, mirin' the results". I'm not thinking how superior I am to him because I can bench twice what he bench.
Just to add on. In Australia it costs like $80 for a standard tub of protein and $100 for creatine. So I think spending $400 on double that and a lot more was a good buy.
Creatine more expensive than protein? Wat deh fuk. For me, a tub of creatine is like 25$ and a tub of protein is like 50$.
Creatine more expensive than protein? Wat deh fuk. For me, a tub of creatine is like 25$ and a tub of protein is like 50$.
Last time I bought it it was O.o
Then again, we are a backwards country so it makes a bit of sense.
The only reason why people use creatine is because it's dirt cheap. It doesn't actually do much, but it doesn't hurt because it's so cheap. If you're paying that much for it, there's no point in buying it at all.

u wot m8, a tub of good-quality brotein is about $40-$50 USD for me at most, and thats a nice kilo of the stuff
fuckin straya hahahaha

Well, Australia's economy is different so the pricetag of 80$ probably averages out to about 50$ if we change it to 'murica's economy. I'm still just a bit concerned about the Creatine costing more than the protein unless the tub he bought is big enough to build a house out of once you're done with the tub.
I seriously can't believe this. Sick. As Fuark.
It's not bad for me to train when I'm unwell? It's just a shit flu.
