And while we are at it, this is a thing:
Luckily for everyone else, the cast and crew of “Ghostbusters” have been making lemons out of lemonade in the best way possible, be it mocking internet trolls during late night show appearances or powerfully standing up for the film in editorial interviews. But now it seems that team “Ghostbusters” has done the best thing imaginable, as Yahoo Movies UK confirms that a scene was actually added to the film so that it could address the backlash head on. In an early scene in the movie, the Ghostbusters upload a video to YouTube and read some of the nasty comments aloud. Sound familiar?
July 15th is only 6(/7) days ahead. I am ready for the 20% on RT.
Kill it with fire.
I love how people deflecting criticism just outright deny the existence of Midnight Edge's videos. Like they're the primary fucking source for people's valid concerns but nah lets keep putting random youtube comments in the spotlight.
July 15th is only 6(/7) days ahead. I am ready for the 20% on RT.
It premieres tomorrow, and the UK release is on the 11th. Let's hope it gets trashed.

Paul Feig is a solid director, I bet it's gonna end up with just as good of reviews as all his recent films have despite the trailers looking shite. That and make lots of $$$ despite all the internet controversy. Hope I'm wrong thooooooooo but I bet general movie going audiences aren't gonna give a shit and all see it regardless.
The emails, damn, the story ideas are worse than what you'd expect from a 5th grader. How do such people even get such influential movie making positions?
odd's are theres 2 ways getting to the top in hollywood either tou're really fucking good or kiss hugher ups ass
What did Paul do? He's obviously not good and he's also too ugly to be kissing upper ass.

It is a remake, after all. I doubt it'll bomb, but I'm sure it'll at least be kind of underwhelming. [editline]8th July 2016[/editline] Also, Paul Feig has only directed five (six now, I guess) movies, two of which were poorly reviewed, the next 3 were Melissa McCarthy vehicles.
Pascall is a backstabbing cunt who only does things for her own agenda and Feig is an absolute egotistical asshat. I'd be more surprised if they get out without a scratch on them, not so much the movie.

Same with it just being a remake. But we'll find out soon enough what the actual deal is.
Also, Paul Feig has only directed five (six now, I guess) movies, two of which were poorly reviewed, the next 3 were Melissa McCarthy vehicles.
Hence I said recent films. And since this is also a Melissa McCarthy action-comedy vehicle it's a pretty fair comparison to make if you're trying to predict the reception of this film

I think it might break even but that's it.
Barely any marketing? This shit has been everywhere for a long time now that i've seen at least. It's seemed pretty normal marketing to me.
I havent seen any. Only saw one at the theaters. [editline]8th July 2016[/editline] I mean hell, a movie about Batman and Superman managed to vastly underperform, i wouldnt be surprised if this did too. Sony fucked up before with trying to establish a cinematic universe, and now Spider-Man is at (mostly) Marvel.
What did Paul do? He's obviously not good and he's also too ugly to be kissing upper ass.
either it's a I know someone or I scratch you're back yo do me???

Lots of movies rake in tonnes of cash and are critically panned. I mean the second quote is maybe a bit ambiguous but the first one was clearly talking about reviews ("20% on RT")

I just felt like mentioning box office as well, since it's still relevant to everyone hoping for the film to fail.
TBH if they had ghostbusters with an all-male replacement cast as the original guys are too old/don't care I'm sure it'd be forgotten about in just a few weeks. Instead cast opposites to generate huge media hype under the guise of diversification or some stupid shit and reap in a bunch of cash. Don't be at all surprised by the number of practically illiterate people who will go shovel into the movie because of "girl power"
I know?
kinda not what you implied by "you're going to be disappointed" when you responded to someone talking about reviews
There's a reason I said "That and" when I started talking about box office results. It was two separate thoughts lol. [editline]9th July 2016[/editline]
it could still rake in lots of cash due to controversy $$$
yea it absolutely will. which is lame but o well
What did Paul do? He's obviously not good and he's also too ugly to be kissing upper ass.
He's got a lot of friends in the business and is quick to please people. Anybody that remotely appears as "feminist" on his radar and he'll be all over them.

That one never gets old.

We can all agree that it won't be a good sequel to the original ghostbusters, but wait until the reviews come in to make a judgement if you're not going to see the movie.
Yea and not to mention it's given them that wonderful critical defense of "oh you just hate it cause you're sexist!!". That one never gets old.
Yeah. Its pretty riling that people can't seem to recognize that most of this shit is just basic marketing. Not like companies haven't been doing the same thing for the past 2-300 years. Instead of just not watching or paying attention to something they find dumb, they shower it with attention. So even if the movie isn't a box office success its still considered a marketing success, which means that the exact same thing will happen again next year and people still won't recognize it as a basic shitty marketing strategy.
kinda not what you implied by "you're going to be disappointed" when you responded to someone talking about reviews but you're not wrong, it could still rake in lots of cash due to controversy $$$
Are you unable to distinguish opinion from fact? Everything you've stated is really really obvious, and doesn't change anything postal said in any context.
Crossposting from that Blazing Saddles thread a week ago.
People are complaining about the Ghostbusters movie because it looks like unfunny, unintelligent, cringe humor vomit. I've got no problem with them making it. I think it's going to be a really shallow and shitty movie. In fact I'll go further and say that I will be positively shocked if it isn't. This is not a good comparison if you ask me. Blazing Saddles is funny because of it has multiple levels of wit, plot, makes light of countless stereotypes, and actually highlights whats wrong with those stereotypes by juxtaposing them with situations where they don't hold up. It's offensive, while at the same time ridiculing you for being offended, and it still has loads of cheap jokes dispersed throughout. If forces you to think. Or at least be aware of some of the complexities and finer nuances of culture. That's good comedy. Compare that with the stereotypical black lady who's only depth is that she knows the town. Wow, she's being loud and stereotypical. So funny. It doesn't matter that she's black. She could be practically anything, as long as she portrayed the corresponding stereotypes, and the plot would be completely unaffected. The entire persona is just a piece tacked onto the plot, instead of being integral to it. There is no counterpoint to that behavior that shows the ridiculousness of accepted perceptions. It's just cheap jokes, with no apparent attempt at provoking any sort of thought. It reinforces the stereotypes and makes fun of the character rather than being intelligent enough to make fun of the audience.
Most of the stuff about blazing saddles is equally applicable to the original movie. This movie is intellectually stillborn, and while it might do adequately in theaters, will not have any long term lasting appeal, and will do abysmally once it hits dvd/bluray. It's a summer film through and through and will be forgotten in the near future, except as an example of how to piss on the ashes of what was once a gold standard for a franchise.
Are you unable to distinguish opinion from fact? Everything you've stated is really really obvious, and doesn't change anything postal said in any context.
Not like there's much accuracy in your post, but even if there was what is it adding to this thread? Most of the things posted in this thread are pretty obvious tbh, most of us feel the movie is badly made and trying to cash in by marketing itself as progressive.
Always hated this mindset that pandering to audiences = SHIT ENTERTAINMENT FUCK EVERYTHING.
