Charles Martinet is a treasure. It's great that he still loves voicing the Mario cast so much. A lot of times when voice actors get older, it gets harder for them to do more exaggerated VA. Poor Peter Cullen of Transformers fame apparently coughs up blood sometimes when he voices Optimus Prime.
I need a Mario game where the brothers actually have dumb conversations
My favorites are the ones where he surprises kids and they realize who he is. Charles Martinet is one of those special people who finds joy out of giving joy to others.

He is pure and huggable and actually Mario IRL.

Imagine having no idea this guy is their voice actor and watching him do this.

Couple of people in that video may have been eyeing him as insane, not recognizing him.
Martinet has one of the best jobs in the world.
I like how luigi sounds like he has a brain injury that forces him to blurt out "OH YE" halfway through a sentence.

He's got Terminal 7.

The whole video just sounded like if Mario + Luigi turned into stoners

Imagine being Son Gokus VA. That guy has lungs of steel!

Explains why he thinks most animals and insects are cows.
I got scared when Wario was assaulting me with farts.

Fun fact Sean Schemmel actually fainted while screaming in Dragon Ball GT.

Is it bad that all I could think about when watching this was what the other Mario and Luigi game voice actor's done with his talents?

He's like the anti-thesis of Martinet, while Lou Albano (and to an extend, Vinny from Vinesause) is the middle ground.

If I remember correctly, Sean said that doing the voice work for the super saiyan 3 unveil scene fucking wrecked his voice. Didn't he cough up blood too?
I love Charles Martinet, genuinely seems like a good guy. Literally could not get a better person to voice Mario.
and to think, he voiced a dragon.
Guy this old should be losing his voice, not keeping it. It's like how actors like Frank Welker are still finding jobs because they care of their vocal cords and just generally love playing their characters. We need more guys like him as the years go by and VA's become a larger field than it already is without having to rely on the obvious celebrity voice to fill the seats.

Wasn't that in the interview for the Last Knight? Last I heard about that he was talking about his role as King Kong in Kong Lives. Both he and Welker had trouble with their characters in the past because the voices demanded so much Do you think Welker was using his speaker voice the while time as '84 Megatron? http://collider.com/transformers-optimus-prime-megatron-peter-cullen-frank-welker-interview/
Good news is that Welker toned down the hammy performance for a more relaxed but chilling take on Megatron, despite the TF5 dumpster fire that it is. It's like Christopher Lee in the Star Wars prequels; story, characters, and dialogue are a mess, but gold star for making it sound like it all means something.
Charles Martinet never fails to cheer me up
(Forewarn, I hate plugging so i'm not doing so on purpose, I swear! But if you are interested, say so and i'll link it for you!)
I remember talking to him on my show in January of this year. Speaking with him was so heartwarming and genuine, it almost felt as if i was really speaking to Mario, the embodiment of Nintendo, and my childhood itself. Not with accents or quips, but with mannerisms and vernacular (not to mention his insane love for food); he was just so happy, carefree, kind and loving with just so much love, I couldn't contain my own happiness. it's one interview that i still go back to it from time to time when i'm feeling down. That's a night worth remembering for a long time. I still smile ear to ear thinking about it. This video brought all that positivity back right when I needed it. :cat:
I think I had an opportunity to meet with him but he disappeared before I could ask. I regret not asking sooner.
There needs to be more Wario videos in this world.
