• Best Old Artist?

Well. Old people don't only deserve respect for surviving how long they have, but they still have it in them sometimes to have power of expression. This thread is also for the living, not the artists that died old such as Ray Charles and Johnny Cash whom both were fantastic in their last years. Bob Dylan Leonard Cohen Stevie Wonder (song starts at 2:18) Tom Jones Elton John Neil Young Paul McCartney Robert Plant Al Green Now this thread is based on the popularity and how they make great music even though they are SERIOUSLY old. I mean old as in you can't believe they can still walk... jeez. Enjoy the music, some are most probably embedding disabled, but they're all worthy songs that need to be heard. I'm not going to put the option for "other" as you will just have to recommend one that I may have missed. Cheers.
Gotta say I love Stevie Wonder. I might be a little biased because he's really the only artist there I listen to besides Robert Plant from LZ. It's great to hear such a recent performance sound just as good as when it was recorded all those years ago.
Leonard Cohen IMO
Stevie.
I'm finding it far too difficult to decide :saddowns:
Stevie Wonder. He's awesome.
Peter Gabriel :buddy: [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] Also Roger Waters [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] And David Gilmour [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] And I guess Phil Collins is still doing okay
None of those are worthy to be in the poll. Maybe Peter Gabriel but the others are milking their early days rather than moving forward and being true to their artistry. They are all capable. But I need physical evidence.
Okay, here's your idea with evidence: Jeff Beck (66 years old) A track from his latest album (released 2010): dunno why I forgot Jeff to start with but anyway there you go
Was a toss-up between Dylan and Paul, voted for Paul.
Elton John, because of "Your Song" and "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" mostly. I don't really like any of the other dudes.

B.B. King I think. Also Roger Waters is awesome.
B.B. King I think. Also Roger Waters is awesome.
Your reply is in the other thread :v:
I know, I replied here cause I felt like it too :buddy: [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] I'm an attentionwhore :v:
Elton John's voice may not be as spry as it used to be. In his younger days he could do incredible pitch shifts with his voice; now that he's older he has a powerful deeper voice. He has adjusted his old songs very well to fit his recent voice and his shows are just as amazing as they were in the 70's. I think out of all the older artists his voice has just stood the test of time the most. Paul McCartney also sounds great still. [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] 2005 version of Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting. Brilliant live performance of Pinball Wizard. slightly after he released his first album. Pre-glitz/glamor Elton singing a powerful song about racial equality (song aired first in 1969, performance in 1970). You can see how much his voice has changed over the years. While he won't be able to sing like this again, his performances are still great.
Jimi Hendrix
