Just heard on Fox news(Live, so it's less bullshit), General McChyrsyal, the leading commander of armed forces in Afghanistan is being relieved and replaced by General David Petraeus. Hmm, I thought Obama was going to spare him when he said he wanted to speak with him before taking action. Petraeus is a bizarre name.
General Petraeus is a fucking badass name
General Petraeus is a fucking badass name
He is a pretty badass General too.
General Betrayus is how you pronounce his name?

What a badass name. We'll be fine.

I'm pretty sure he resigned.

And that's of relevance how? I though Obama was going to spare him.
Oh no he said something bad about Obama, what an evil guy... What is this, some kind of dictatorship?
Oh no he said something bad about Obama, what an evil guy... What is this, some kind of dictatorship?
It lowers morale.
Oh no he said something bad about Obama, what an evil guy... What is this, some kind of dictatorship?
lol you clearly have no idea how subordination works
lol you clearly have no idea how subordination works
You clearly have no idea of how leadership works, if someone insults you and disagrees with you, you don't just fire them. You try to correct them and sway them to your side, not just "Ohh you said something bad about me, you sir are fired!" Now the troops who have served under a general experienced in the region for the past nine years is being replaced by a new commander over an insult. That will do great things to morale and their opinion of the presidency. Obama is an idiot in this decision, you can't lead by removing any and everyone who disagrees with you. edit: The things he said were pretty stupid and arrogant, but this is still a terrible way to handle the situation.
It lowers morale.
Nope this is likely going to make them hate the Obama administration rather than agree with it.
Nope this is likely going to make them hate the Obama administration rather than agree with it.
When a General takes the piss out of the very government he's fighting for don't you think people are going to question the government?
When a General takes the piss out of the very government he's fighting for don't you think people are going to question the government?
But in kicking this guy out they're losing his experience, all they should have done is talked to him about it, and maybe even convicned him other wise, firing him just makes it seem like the government is trying to hide their weakness.
Oh no he said something bad about Obama, what an evil guy... What is this, some kind of dictatorship?
it's insubordination. Obama was his superior officer, that's what "Commander in Chief" means
What exactly did he say?
What exactly did he say?
Copy pasted from the BBC link, Referring to a key Oval Office meeting with Mr Obama a year ago, an aide of Gen McChrystal says it was "a 10-minute photo-op". "Obama clearly didn't know anything about him, who he was... he didn't seem very engaged. The boss was pretty disappointed," the aide says. Joe Biden. Gen McChrystal had mocked the vice-president when asked a question about him. "Are you asking about Vice-President Biden? Who's that?" Richard Holbrooke. Gen McChrystal says of an e-mail from the US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan: "Oh, not another e-mail from Holbrooke... I don't even want to open it." Actually, the more I read about how arrogant and stupid that general is, I almost agree with removing him. It sounds to me like he was frustrated with obama and just threw a fit instead of putting up constructive criticism.
Petraeus is a much cooler name anyways.
The Rolling Stone article absolutely nitpicks the worst side imaginable of him, and that's putting it very lightly. Nothing quite like some sensationalist media to get a general fired.
it's insubordination. Obama was his superior officer, that's what "Commander in Chief" means
Yeah, but you don't just fire random people (who may be very useful in their position) just over disagreeing with you. That's called a dictatorship. The President didn't even try to correct the guy. He just replaced him with another general who may or may not be nearly as useful in that capacity. Obama obviously isn't even thinking about the repercussions of what he's doing.
I told ya he'd get fired, and not quit.
I believe this is actually the most badass name for a General http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_S._Wallace
Obama is an idiot in this decision, you can't lead by removing any and everyone who disagrees with you.
He isn't doing that. Pretty sure he's only firing this guy.

As usual, they snagged two people, a republican and a democrat on opposing sides. Neither could reach a conclusion on his behavior, but both pointed out that he was the counter-insurgency military genius of the modern age. Basically every article about him absolutely confirms his near-superhuman status, and now he's out because of his extreme disgust with politics. His problem with Obama seemed to have very little with Democrats vs. Republicans, but much more to do with his contempt for politicians and bureaucracy in general.
