Gays and lesbians make about 9% of all tourists from abroad who visit Czech Republic this year. Yearly, about 600 000 homosexual tourists visit, mainly in the capital city, looking for services somehow related to the sexual orientation of their minority. Over the weekends, tourists from abroad make for more than 50% of visitors in gay clubs of Prague. Their spending is significantly above average.
Mainly homosexual tourists from countries with some degree of repressions against their orientation visit Czech Republic; for example Russia, but there are also tourists coming from Spain, Italy, or surrounding countries.
In the recent years, Prague became one of the most popular destinations for homosexuals in Europe, mainly for high tolerance by the locals and for wide selection of specialized businesses.
Homosexual tourists are richer and richer and keep spending more money. They often buy extravagant and luxurious goods.

do they come with showers (as a rule)?
I never realized how many homosexuals visited the Czech Republic
I should go there.
Sounds pretty neat if you ask me.

How do they have a percentage on this? Are visitors to the Czech Republic required to tick a box for their sexuality?
Another news about Czech Republic on Facepunch! We're becoming famous!

Exactly my thoughts. Most of the articles on the site (Novinky.cz) are irelevant and based on no solid proof/evidence.
I went to Prague. Beautiful city. Cold as fuck though. Didn't realize it was so gay friendly. I have gained even more respect for it.
I'm not surprised. When I went backpacking, I drank more beer there than I did across all of eastern europe.
It's so fucking cheap it should be illegal.

Like in any other industry which needs research on public behaviour. You get a sample and ask them to fill out questionnaire.
Must be San Fran's sister city
I thought it was generally understood that the main reason for this is the massive amount of underage prostitutes in prague. It was even more popular in the 1990s, especially with British men, because the age of consent for homosexuals was still 21 whereas it was 15 in the Czech republic at the time and still is today.
There's even a documentary about it called "Not Angles but Angles".

Heh, I just got back from visiting Prague today. It's a really nice city.
Is Czechia another name for the Czech Republic? Always find it annoying saying "Czech Republic" whenever referring to the country.

I'm czech, live in Prague and I didn't realise either. I guess they're fairly quiet? We just get the yearly parade and that's about it.
The second option is that they frequent the posh bars which are way too expensive in comparison to the ones we frequent.

Pseudo official. we don't actually have an official shorthand in english, but a lot of people have been pushing for Czechia (as a translation of Česko) to be used officially. I expect it to become official in the next five to ten years.

Strictly speaking, Czech Republic is made of Czechia, Moravia, and Silesia, but these are sorta rural areas nobody cares about except for nature and alcohol. It's a bit like United Kingdom being made of Britain, Ireland and Wales. If you use just the first of three, it often doesn't matter in international context.

Actually the Czech Republic is made out of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.
The fact we use Cesko as both a shorthand for the CZ and as an informal term for Cechy (Bohemia) is something else entirely :P

What, Wales is part of Britain
What, Wales is part of Britain
Awesomecaek never implied otherwise.
Czech Republic officially consists of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.
United Kingdom consists of Britain, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
I'd say referring to Czech Republic as to Czechia is as bad as referring to the United Kingdom as to Britain.
I don't think it really matters unless you're aiming to describe a certain location in the country.
this is pretty gay

It's actually a bit different. The UK is more or less a federation similarly to Germany. Each of those landmasses essentially have their own goverments. Whereas the three main regions of the czech republic are essentially just geographic regions.
But this would hold true during the first republic (which consisted of bohemia, moravia, silesia (which later merged with moravia), slovakia and subkarpatian russland from which each was a separate entity) as well as later czechoslovak republics, be it either the communist or federal ones. Though the devision there was between czech lands and slovak lands very similar to the division between Scotland and the UK overall.

Sorry but it really gets up my tits when people think England and Britain are interchangeable words

Britain is the whole island correct?
Britain is the whole island correct?
I think Great Britain is England, Wales and Scotland while the United Kingdom is those three plus Northern Ireland.
i really shouldn't but i still call it Czechoslovakia from time to time

Well, whole my post back there was quite silly. Now I know it's not a good idea to post stuff when tired and almost about to sleep.
I'll get myself aware of the words and of the differences between them, so I don't write down such a stupid post not even once again. I didn't mean to offend you, sorry.
