More than 362 tonnes of rubbish was dumped along the beach in a scene that looked more like a disaster zone than a holiday spot. Drink bottles, discarded food packaging, broken sun mats and inflatable toys left no room for sunbathers who were forced to lie among the chaos. If I were there, I'd have just said 'nope' and left the scene until the beach got cleaned up, at any rate I'd try looking around for starting a cleanup drive.

I would love to go there and see what kind of shit I could make with all that junk. I love doing that shit (Note: I'M NOT SAYING POLLUTION IS OK. I would still prefer one less polluted area than a place to dick around for a couple hours).
To be honest I don't see the beach getting cleaned up soon, pollution in China doesn't seem to be a very big issue for the government.
Truth be told sometimes our own beaches end up in terrible condition after major festivals. Who am I kidding, they always end up in terrible condition after major festivals. I think they cleaned out around 20 tons of trash from the Marina beach last year after the Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations, if I have the news article right.

For those who don't know, the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated in China to commentate the death of poet and statesman Qu Yuan. Long story short, his king didn't follow his advice and paid dearly for it when his state collapsed. In despair, Qu Yuan killed himself. To prevent Qu Yuan's body from being eaten by fish, peasants started putting zongzi into the river. Here is a joke. I guess littering all over the place and destroying natural habitat is a good way to prevent the fish from eating Qu Yuan's body. After all, the fish would all die because of the destroyed habitat.
I think it had a perpetual effect, eventually people just though "Oh there's so much trash here anyway, it wont make any difference if I throw this can on the ground"
Wouldn't even take my shoes off if I got on a beach like that. Think of all the sharp items buried in the sand
Yucky.
....Almost brings tears to my eyes. Come to Alabama, our beaches are pristine as fuck! :D
Why China sucks: TRASH EVERYWHERE
Why China sucks: TRASH EVERYWHERE
they'll probably just collect it and recycle it into food like they do with sewage
Noticing the lack of effort to clean it up by the beach goers. Must be an acceptable level of trash.
they'll probably just collect it and recycle it into food like they do with sewage
Yea, they do http://inventorspot.com/articles/unhappy_meals_chinas_top_8_fake_foods Sorry the weird source but I coulnd't find individual articles right now

This (except sand goes much further) is what it's like near me, and I don't even have to walk a mile. Even if I'm not a beach person, I can't emphasize just how much nicer it is without assholes trashing the place (residents-only beach). It must be horrible to really want to enjoy the beach and have it absolutely trashed like in those pictures. That's disgusting.
the fuck, have some descency and actually dispose of your shit responsibly, don't just throw it all on the ground, thats how we get ants!
