Hey Face-Punch, I live in Newfoundland, which in the 1850's to about 1940's was controlled by England, so technically, i am allowed to speak British without being flamed at, so. Do i have the right to speak like a British person?
No, bugger off you stupit wanker. jk but seriously, don't. The British dialect is reserved for the British! Newfoundland used to be controlled by England. So did most of India. Does that mean everyone in India is British? No. Also, FYI Britain=/=England. That pisses a lot of people off.
I lived in east germany in my dads nuts!
It's up to you to speak how you like :v: Why bother making a thread about this..?
does this really need a thread?
I live in Australia, which was colonised by the English, and technically we're still a part of them. Do I have the right to speak like a British person?

being British isn't all that cool to be honest
Australia was colonised by the BRITISH Not the english England is a part of Britain just as much as Scotland or Wales is.
I regret to inform you that you are as American as they come. You can't be British. You could be English, Irish, Scottish or Welsh. There is NO FUCKING COUNTRY CALLED BRITAIN.
It'll sound awful, guarenteed.
Britain is england!! But most english speaking country is india :/ maybe im wrong if its not most as second language
Aussie's sound the same as them except for one word.
This is completely untrue, as an Englishman there is clear difference. Also I doubt you can achieve anything more than a generic British accent, for a small country we do have quite a broad spectrum of accents.
Britain is england!! But most english speaking country is india :/ maybe im not if its not most as second language
No it's not. It was called as such in the Napoleonic/Empire era simply because we were the most powerful country out of the 4 that make up the United Kingdom.

Britain is not England it is Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland combined.
