• James Gunn: Rocket Raccoon is the 'Heart' of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Movie
After being treated to various behind the scenes pictures courtesy of director Bryan Singer, it looks like we have our first glimpse of Magneto in action… and he looks pretty awesome. If you thought bringing Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' to the big screen would be easy, you'd better think again. With some of the craziest, kookiest characters we've ever seen in a comic-book, it looks as though director James Gunn has his work cut out for him. But it looks as though the wacky director is entirely aware of what's in store… and reveals that the success of the project is entirely down to one man - Rocket Raccoon. In an interview with HitFix at the San Diego Comic-Con, director James Gunn reveals why the success of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is dependent on Rocket Raccoon. "Rocket [Raccoon] is the heart of this movie," he explained. "If Rocket doesn't work, the movie's not gonna work. If Rocket does work the movie's gonna work. And so for me, the whole time it's been about making something that some people could think of as a cartoon or a ridiculous character into a real creature. If a raccoon really was able to walk and talk and make machines and shoot a gun, how would that really happen? How could that occur? And so for me it's about grounding everything in reality." Of course, this goes some way towards explaining why the slightly zany director paid a visit to some raccoons back in June… all in the name of research. But when it comes to grounding the movie in reality, I get the feeling that's going to be quite the colossal task. I mean, let's face it - the film features a talking raccoon and an extra-terrestrial plant monster. Still, at least he knows it's no easy task, and freely admits that 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is one of Marvel's more obscure titles. But it looks as though he still has pretty high expectations… "The truth is when 'Iron Man' came out, basically nobody knew who Iron Man was," he explained. "They sold 15,000 copies of 'Iron Man' a month. That's not enough to even make the first million dollars or whatever. So it really isn't any different… we are starting the wing of Marvel that is the Marvel Cosmic Cinematic Universe. This is Marvel Cosmic. And we're doing exactly what they did with the first 'Iron Man'."
Source. I really hope they can make this movie work, since it has so many ways it could go wrong.
Rocket Raccoon is the most out of place compared to a Human, a Tree Man and Two Green Human Looking people. He's also the Tony Stark of the group in terms of sarcasm and likability. To compare them to the Avengers: Star Lord - Captain America Drax - Thor Rocket - Iron Man Groot - Hulk Gamora - Black Widow I'm really interested as to who is voicing/playing Rocket and Groot.

I'm not sure how well his voice would work in a huge motion picture though.
I am so hyped for this movie. I really hope it'll turn out great.

I'm extremely curious to see the Gardians of The Galaxy and Ant Man. Both have a lot of ingredients to make terrible live action movies.
It goes without saying that some things that work in comics don't work in live-action. I'm curious how they will pull this off. So let's wait and see.
everyone doubted they could put all those avengers characters together without making it too cheesy and dumb, and they pulled it off this is a lot harder though, but i still have hopes
