• ‘Jurassic World’ sets record for fastest climb to $1 billion global Box Office
Universal has another billion-dollar baby on its hands. As expected when the estimated worldwide gross as of Sunday had hit $981.3M, the dinosaurs will officially cross $1B at the global box office today. Universal reports JW is currently at $987.2M and is set to stomp over the $1B line with today’s business. That makes it 13 days for Indominous Rex to reach the milestone, faster than any film in history — and faster than Universal’s own Furious 7, which was the previous record holder having gotten there in 17 days.
http://deadline.com/2015/06/jurassic-world-one-billion-dollars-record-global-box-office-1201451692/ The Moneysaurus Rex continues it's rampage
Jurassic World might be setting all these records now, but it'll most likely lose them all when Episode 7 comes out.
I hope this means Jurassic World will revive the series. Dinosaurs are cool
Jurassic World might be setting all these records now, but it'll most likely lose them all when Episode 7 comes out.
IMHO, when the new Star Wars comes out, I think it'll have a good shot at the top 3 highest grossing films of all time.
This feels like my childhood again. Jurassic park and star wars movies.
I want my money back.
IMHO, when the new Star Wars comes out, I think it'll have a good shot at the top 3 highest grossing films of all time.
Oh, it better. I love Jurassic Park, but Star Wars needs to regain it's place at the top.
Im happy for them but kind of scared for the sequels. I hope they don't dick it up, imo Jurassic World would have been fine as a standalone and not the beginning of a trilogy but we'll see
I hope this means Jurassic World will revive the series. Dinosaurs are cool
I believe they already had a trilogy planned.
I believe they already had a trilogy planned.
Yep, pretty sure they already confirmed it.
Yeah plus they had the most obvious equal hook ever when they [sp]evacuated the labs and took all the research and embryos with them, not to be mentioned for the rest of the movie.[/sp]

Because that's where the squeals might lead to. [/sp]
It's not deserved. Easily one of the worst movies of the year.
It's not deserved. Easily one of the worst movies of the year.
Couldn't agree more. The plot was pants on head retarded, if you don't have that, you have nothing. I feel like I'm crazy, how can so many people like this movie??? Must be blinded by nostalgia and cg dinosaurs.
I feel like I'm crazy, how can so many people like this movie???
I know, right? How can people have different opinions on things, especially ones you don't like?
I loved the Jurassic World. Every second of it. I don't like Stars Wars really much but I think it will get to where JW is.
I know, right? How can people have different opinions on things, especially ones you don't like?
Some people do believe in the concept of bad taste, though. I suppose I'm one of them. Haven't seen the movie, but I honestly didn't get the appeal of the trailer at all. I think there are movies way more deserving of the top spot, but then again I guess most people are like that.
Its a Hollywood blockbuster, but more than that is one that invokes the classic blockbusters, Jaws, Jurassic Park, and the like. Its not meant to have a spectacular, indepth plot with the most gripping characters. Its meant to be a great framework for escapism.

For all the CGI and explosions in the world I couldn't help but be thoroughly bored during Godzilla - there was nothing to care about. Likewise with Transformers. These a big movies with big storylines, but that doesn't at all equate to drama. Take Moon for example; great story, great characters and you care about what happens to that guy. What do you mean when you say it isn't meant to have a "spectacular" plot? I mostly associate that word with "sensational", "impressive" and the like. I think Jurassic World could apply there.
Well, never would have guessed it. I knew it was going to make some cash; but I think that even studio execs are probably surprised too at this response. I think I read that they had a much more modest estimate for Jurrasic World.
Jurassic World was fantastic. It's one of those movies where you need to just shut your brain off. Leave your brain in the parking lot.
Well 10 years ago movie tickets weren't $15 and close to $20 for Imax
;48031642']Then stop saying it doesnt deserve what it got
I'm pretty sure this movie is nowhere near the quality of many movies that attained much less success, but I don't think I've excluded the possibility anywhere in my posts. At least I'm upfront about not having seen it, though? My original point was more about the fact that I personally think some people are more qualified to say something about movies than others. A movie can't attain this kind of success without mass market appeal. Mass market appeal and quality aren't mutually exclusive, but looking at history we can see what kind of movies generally reach these numbers (hint: Avatar is currently number 1). Then again, maybe I'm wrong and this movie is great. I'll obviously need to watch it before passing judgement, I'm just leaning towards "It's probably not that great".
It was okay, not worth the $20 ticket though.

What is fun
i-is that father ray mukada
That is another of B.D. Wong's roles, yes.
There wasn't enough focus on the mayhem and too much focus on the 2D characters that they managed to make me care nothing about. They should have focused more on having the actual dinosaurs do stuff. At the beginning of the movie, they literally played the iconic themes TWICE while zooming in on BUILDINGS. And, of course, boring selfish character development tropes run rampant while they show little to no remorse: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ProtagonistCenteredMorality I also don't feel like there was enough payback or resolution for the initial problem that the woman caused. It was all about the main characters' development. No one, save for Pratt's character, gave a shit, and by the end of the movie they're trying to make you feel like ends should have met up, but I felt like they didn't. I understand the movie's purpose as a summer blockbuster getaway but it's not an excuse for being uninteresting.
I only ever go to the cinema to see epic movies as the price is crazy for cinema tickets in the uk. For imax it's around £13 for a ticket, £11 for 3d and around £9 for 2d. The cinemas are pretty much empty due to this, i guess the cinemas don't get the memo that high prices means less customers and thus many empty seats.
