"The Lord has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ: all of us, not just Catholics. Everyone! ‘Father, the atheists?’ Even the atheists. Everyone! And this Blood makes us children of God of the first class! We are created children in the likeness of God and the Blood of Christ has redeemed us all! And we all have a duty to do good. And this commandment for everyone to do good, I think, is a beautiful path towards peace. If we, each doing our own part, if we do good to others, if we meet there, doing good, and we go slowly, gently, little by little, we will make that culture of encounter: we need that so much. We must meet one another doing good. ‘But I don’t believe, Father, I am an atheist!’ But do good: we will meet one another there.”
http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2013/05/22/pope_at_mass:_culture_of_encounter_is_the_foundation_of_peace/en1-694445 This new pope keeps getting better and better!
sick guy
Nifty. "Maybe you're right and there is no God! But what if you're wrong? Don't you want to go to Heaven?" "Well, it doesn't matter, cause the pope says everyone has a 'Get out of Hell free' card."
I'm not quite sure how that works.
Neat news. Could the next pope say "hehehe God changed his mind"?
I want to see this pope as a guitarist for Metallica
Neat news. Could the next pope say "hehehe God changed his mind"?
Technically yes!
So me being a Bisexual furry atheist is forgiven? I don't even forgive myself. Next thing happening will be priests going to prison over pedophilia...
For a head of a such a conservative organization he sure as Hell is proclaiming some rather radical views.
Even homosexuals? Good to hear.
Well it's the thought that counts.
[28] I promise you that any of the sinful things you say or do can be forgiven, no matter how terrible those things are. [29] But if you speak against the Holy Spirit, you can never be forgiven. That sin will be held against you forever. -Mark 3:28-29
Uh, huh
Is this like the equivalent of everybody getting un-perma'd by Garry? Maybe it's God's birthday or something.
Good thing that the pope is helping to slowly give people a different perspective on athiests. It's hard on us when the majority of the religious seem to automatically think we aren't good, generous people simply because we have completely reasonable doubts on what they're asking us to blindly believe.
I love this guy
Fuck, well there goes my chance of going to hell...
Uh, huh
There's like a thousand polar opposite quote pairs to be found in the bible.
I want to see this pope as a guitarist for Metallica
referring to this old gold? or is that a Dave Mustaine joke?
There's like a thousand polar opposite quote pairs to be found in the bible.
indeed, here's a chart [t]http://sciencebasedlife.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/biblecontradictions-reasonproject.png[/t] 439 subjects and topics, most of which have multiple contradictions
i think i like this new guy.
I'm not quite sure how that works.
Basically, that nobody is born evil, that we all have the duty to do good, and that you will go to Heaven regardless of your beliefs, if you were a good person. Which makes sense, to be honest. About time someone with authority said it.
There's like a thousand polar opposite quote pairs to be found in the bible.
Of course there is, making it ever more ridiculous. None the less, the quote goes against what the Pope said
indeed, here's a chart [t]http://sciencebasedlife.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/biblecontradictions-reasonproject.png[/t] 439 subjects and topics, most of which have multiple contradictions
The Bible isn't a science book. The Gospels in there are written by different people with different opinions or thoughts about how they received Jesus's word.
I have been cleansed!
The Bible isn't a science book. The Gospels in there are written by different people with different opinions or thoughts about how they received Jesus's word.
And? Its supposed to be treated as absolute and unequivocal truth from start to finish.
I'm really liking this new pope
The Bible isn't a science book. The Gospels in there are written by different people with different opinions or thoughts about how they received Jesus's word.
i am aware of that. however we were discussing contradictions in the bible and i happened to find a chart about contradictions in the bible. i never claimed it was a 100% logical encyclopedia written by a historian.
Jesus's word.
uuuuuh and what about the Old Testament?
Well really it's about time they started to actually portray the everloving god as such and stop the "Well he loves and protects everyone except ..."
Rude, what if I don't want to go? It'll be like being stuck in church when I could be up the town or on the internet, except forever
Well really it's about time they started to actually portray the everloving god as such and stop the "Well he loves and protects everyone except ..."
This pope is really trying to get back to the roots of what made Christianity so popular. The Catholic Church and all the trappings of dogma and power it has is a far cry to what the religion was originally envisioned as.
i appreciate the sentiment franky
