Well, I noticed no threads about Dio had been made, so I decided to make one. About: (A.K.A. Direct copypasta from Wikipedia) Ronnie James Dio (born Ronald James Padavona; July 10, 1942) was an American heavy metal vocalist and songwriter. He has performed with Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his own band Dio. Other musical projects include the collective fundraiser Hear 'n Aid. He was widely hailed as one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal, renowned for his consistently powerful voice and for popularizing the "devil's horns" hand gesture in metal culture. He was collaborating on a project with former Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice, under the moniker Heaven & Hell. Their first studio album, The Devil You Know, was released on April 28, 2009. Albums: Heaven and Hell (1980) - Black Sabbath Mob Rules (1981) - Black Sabbath Holy Diver (1983) - Dio The Last in Line (1984) - Dio Sacred Heart (1985) - Dio Dream Evil (1987) - Dio Lock up the Wolves (1990) - Dio Strange Highways (1994) - Dio Angry Machines (1996) - Dio Magica (2000) - Dio Killing the Dragon (2002) - Dio Master of the Moon (2004) - Dio The Devil You Know (2009) - Heaven and Hell Songs: Holy Diver Heaven and Hell - My favorite Push (Tenacious D version of Heaven and Hell in the beginning) Rainbow in the Dark Last in Line (Suggested by Verdicardi) Mob Rules (Suggested by Kyle v2) Dream On (Cover feat. Also:
On 25 November 2009, his wife/manager announced that Dio was diagnosed with stomach cancer:[12] "Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans. Long live rock and roll, long live Ronnie James Dio. Thanks to all the friends and fans from all over the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up."
Nooooo! He'll shake it off, Gods are immortal.
"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."
Well, apparently not. R.I.P. Dio.
The world is full of Kings and Queens Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams It's Heaven & Hell! Gonna see them live this summer at Sonisphere Festival. It will be sweet. I hope he can recover in time!
Holy Diver is my favorite!
Last in Line is a classic Holy Diver has so many amazing songs on it
Ronnie James Dio is a metal god.
Ron projects his vocals directly from his testicles. Heard it in a mag once.
Ronnie James Dio is without a doubt the best hardrock singer to ever walk this earth. Heaven and Hell is, in my opinion, his best song, and one of the best songs in hardrock history.

i really hope he gets better, he's awesome
Is he ill or something?
no, just has cancer
Ow didn't see that coming. Well let's just hope the chemo's will help, because if he dies, hard-rock itself will die.
Ronnie James Dio = ultimately god like voice. Eargasm is a fitting description.
"Dio in Italian and Medieval Latin means 'God.'" Sounds about right.
is he dead yet ?
Dio is my favorite Metal singer! It's Heaven 'n Heeell...
no, just has cancer
:O I'm so sad to hear that. :( He is a legend.
what happened to Rainbow???
Urr... If you mean "What happened to the YouTube link of Rainbow in the Dark that was in the OP", I changed it so that the name of the song is above the video, and not below it like it was. Off - Topic: Woo, 300th post!

And so an era ends... may his music and his soul live on in us all.
This thread deserved to be bumped. The man is a legend. A musical God. His music will live on for generations to come though :') He shall be missed. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the thread about it in the News, I didn't even know he had stomach cancer. Took my by surprise.
"Dio has rocked for a long, long time, Now it's time for him to pass the torch. He has songs of wildebeests and angels, He has soared on the wings of a demon..." -tenacious d rest in peave rjd i love u
I also thought of that song. Now it's very, very relevant. Especially this live version, because of the start. View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=4RqZXMl0swI Not really very serious, but come on, it's Tenacious D.
I always loved Holy Diver. Never really took appreciation of his other music. I guess I now gotta expand my music collection.
I hate it when great musicians die. Truly a great singer.
Rock In Peace, Ronnie Dio "Dio can you hear me, I am lost and so alone? I'm asking for your guidance, would you come down from your thrown."
