Mr Woolmer paid £9,000 for the huge ex-Canadian military machine from a specialist auction site. He told the BBC : "I'd forgotten all about it and then at work I had a call saying 'Hello sir you've just bought a tank'." "I had a bid on one and then I had a phone call at work and of course everyone in the office was laughing at me." "I was living in a flat at the time so we had to have a look around for a house with a nice bit of space to park the tank on the drive." Mr Woolmer has now moved to a larger house on the edge of Bristol to house the enormous vehicle.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/man-buys-enormous-seven-tonne-6641992 Fuck getting a sports car, I want a tank.
Why can an Englishman buy a Canadian tank for $18000 online but I can't find any for sale in bloody Canada?
I think they go a bit to far, that tank is about the same length and width as a normal can and could easily fit in underground parking.
why can't i afford a bloody tank? it would only cost as much as a year's tuition at uni how's that for context
man i wish i had the cash to forget that i bought a tank
Wait, it's legal to buy and sell tanks? Holy shit I know what my next paycheck is going towards.
That is faaaar cheaper than I ever expected. I now have a new goal in my life.
Will he use it as a daily driver?
Wait, it's legal to buy and sell tanks? Holy shit I know what my next paycheck is going towards.
Yes, you can go to an MOD sale yard and just buy one for cash, they did it in Top Gear. Granted I think the gun has to be disabled, but either way you still have a fucking tank. I think you need rubber padded tracks and a tracked-vehicle license to drive it on the road though.
Wait, it's legal to buy and sell tanks? Holy shit I know what my next paycheck is going towards.
they disable the cannons on them there's nothing about them that could be considered illegal
I am not even sure if disabling the cannons is really a legal necessity since the ammo for the gun is illegal as shit on it's own and unlike with small arms calibres, there's no real chance you will just make your own ammo for it.
That's a big accomplishment in a man's life... "I BOUGHT A TANK!!!" Jealous. That's a badass looking tank.
Imagine bringing that beast in for an MOT

Procuring it is an entirely different story. Also, only $18,000 for a fucking Scorpion? Christ, I know what my rainy day fund is going for. The tank he bought is totally fast enough and small enough to be capable of being road-worthy with some rubber tracks and other fittings, I think. It can't hit highway speeds very easily though, 45mph/73kph max.

here you all go http://www.milweb.net/classifieds.php?type=1 go nuts, buy a tank just remember us

This website sells old warsaw pact vehicles n stuff, they'll even demilitarize it for you http://www.mortarinvestments.eu/ If I get the money I'd totally buy a Czech BMP
There are BMPs and things out there for pretty cheap, some good soviet MBTs too.
That's not a tank lol
That's not a tank lol
It's a light tank, aka the FV101 Scorpion.
Sounded as if he bidded on it as a joke, then thought "Well shit..." When he got the phone call :v:
How is this even real http://www.milweb.net/classifieds/large_image.php?ad=77383&cat=1 Trying to find ways to justify it "/
-snip- I'm dumb.
can a miada survive small arms fire, machinegun fire, and light anti-armor weaponry? i think not!
Nice ride. You can totally pick up chicks with that thing. The beer bottle on top of it is a nice detail too.

Iirc for it to be road legal the tank itself has to be able to fit in the lane which means you are limited to light scout tanks. Other than that just fit it road tracks, bore holes in the gun and fit in turn signals. You can get all kinds of military shit once they are disposed of. I forgot the website but the company that handled the auction for HMS Ark Royal was also selling 2 decommissioned destroyers (albeit with the engines removed)
why can't i afford a bloody tank? it would only cost as much as a year's tuition at uni how's that for context
Or if you're American, a year's textbooks at uni.
