Okay, I get that Scythia's new to the CIV world, but did anyone also notice that Teddy got a huge makeover? I guess they didn't like the caricatures so much.

looks a ton better tbh. basically the CIV 5 models but a lot more detailed.
Seems like they reacted to all of the negative feedback on the artstyle. I'm glad, the overview did resemble a mobile game when they first showed it.

Damn shame. I liked the direction that they were taking with the leader portraits, and now they're either going to have to make everyone else look normal and plain, or leave Teddy looking out of place.

I wonder how many people playing this game will even know what Scythia is. I only know because of Roman history and Total War.
Also this makes 4 characters I actually like the look of.

Quite the opposite I'd say. It's the type of quality that comes out of really good hand-made animation.

Amongst the broad public? Likely not many, but anyone with fair knowledge of western history should know of the Scythians. For CIV players I'd say many should but if they dont, nows their chance to learn!

Nah, I think it still fits. It's still cartoony and exaggerated, just toned down from last time. I like how all of the leaders are like caricatures, but the old Teddy was just a bit too much I think.

Seems a lot less like a cartoony caricature. I like the new one better.
I don't mind the caricature, but I do agree the change to Teddy is better, as he looks like he doesn't have the mumps now.

I hope leader traits like this are a lot more transparent through diplomacy/spying on them. I hated not knowing what pisses them off until after I'd done whatever it is.

they're listed by the leader when you talk to them diplomatically. every leader has an agenda like that, as well as a smaller hidden agenda that doesnt influence gameplay like that. (hidden agendas are randomized and are normally basic, like a leader wants the biggest navy, most wonders, etc)
