Tali-Ihantala 1944 and Etulinjan Edessä are two finish/swedish warmovies directed by Åke Lindman. They are both set during the continuation war. Tali-Ihantala 1944
Tali-Ihantala 1944 is a film directed by Åke Lindman and Sakari Kirjavainen, based on the Battle of Tali-Ihantala. The filming began during the summer of 2006 and was screened in the fall of 2007. Åke Lindman himself wanted the film to be as real as possible, and only include facts. He also wanted Finns to remember the sacrifices the soldiers made in those battles.
Trailer I saw this movie a while ago and was thrilled, I love this movie. It's not as dramatized as the usual hollywood movies, and is great if you feel like seing something different than D-Day and the invasion! The movie is very mixed with swedish, finish (some Russian). I am swedish! The Swedish-speaking regiment IR61 may participate in the fighting in East Karelia and the summer of 1944 they regroup at the Isthmus, where they defend against the Soviet attack of Tienhaara, northwest of Viborg.
Trailer This movie, by the same director, is a great one too. There isn't much to say really, I highly recommend these two movies for they are extremly well-made! These films are on youtube, in parts if you want to see them there.
Please tell me it has english subs!
If you buy them, yes! On youtube I don't know though.
Shows well how the War in Finöand were fought.
I am finnish and i approve this thread. There is some films about winter war too but some of them aren't that good or even have english subtitles.
If you buy them, yes! On youtube I don't know though.
It does. I'm watching it right now. "Framom främsta linjen" that is.
I'm from Finland as well and i approve this thread.
Now I've seen "Framom främsta linjen" and I say; Really great movie!
Talvisota is superior. And Rukajärven tie is inferior. Seriously, that's a REALLY crap movie.
Now I've seen "Framom främsta linjen" and I say; Really great movie!
I'm happy to see you liked it. I myself love these films, though you should not watch these films and expect some deep drama. [editline]09:05PM[/editline] There is another movie called The Winterwar I belive, it's good, very good to be honest, but I prefer these movies.
I had seen Tali-Ihantala some time ago, was pretty good (though I missed quite a bit at the beginning, so I should watch it again).
There is another movie called The Winterwar I belive, it's good, very good to be honest, but I prefer these movies.
Yes, Talvisota (Winter war in English, Vinterkriget in Swedish) Btw Now I've also watched "Tali-Ihantala 1944" and it was also close to a masterpiece!
Does anyone have any good finish warmovies or warmovies about the finish winterwar/continuation war that I haven't seen? I've seen Talvisota, Tali-Ihantala and Framom Främsta Linjen.
