Too bad I don't own a smartphone.

What a shame.
Couldn't get me to play it even though it's free.
It's a mockery of the frankly amazing book and the gameplay is nowhere near as good as they were chiming it up to be.
Stick to DXHR.
I heard this was really bad.
Remember when people said it was going to be shit?
Judging by everything I hear, they're probably right...
i remember that TB video where the PC version made the camera zoom in and out repeatedly when he fired a gun, was fucking hilarious.
Too bad it's not even worth playing even though it's free.
The iOS version is decent, actually. Scores about 8-9/10 in most mobile gaming magazines I checked. I had a chance to play it myself, and I have to admitt that it's pretty good. Stay away from the ports though.

for mobile phone games its ok
the PC port is horrifying.
apparently it's canada only

oh it works, even though ign says its Canada only
Succcessfully activated it in Russia.
And yes, Android port is shit, but that's more a plague of Android - multiple configurations of hardware, every single one with it's gimmics, that prevent developers from deep optimization.
So, there is a choice - make a decently optimized game, but for every chip possible (Exynos, Snapdragon, Tegra, MTK) or make it a really good game, but for one chip only (Like HL2, that works best only on Tegra4)
I'm sick of people blaming the nature of the platform. The problem is that the devs specifically hired either don't know how to develop for it properly (maybe efficiently is a better word) or they think they can squeeze by doing a half assed job because it's a mobile product.
I'd say it's a mix of both of these honestly.
Well, when Exynos chip are requied to use one type of texture compressing, and Snapdragon - another one, things are getting complicated.
And the main thing - they can't work with each other at all. Making diffirent builds are taking precious time, and developer teams don't have it.
That's just one example.
I am working with developers, and they are constantly saying that apps are easier to develop on Android, than games.

Something tells me that this is the result of the android (and IOS versions) having so many different versions. It's probably be something to do with the camera when firing being changed BY the resolution.
I guess it's on a case by case basis. I knew that didn't sound right as I posted it; I know it isn't nearly as easy as they would like it to be.
But in DE: The Fall's case based on what I know about how they developed the android port it just seems like they could have done things so much more efficiently somehow.
They made several different versions both on tablets and phones for different specs but the game itself doesn't seem to have hardly any optimization.
I guess I can think of why given what you've said. I've heard some of those chipsets have really, really shit drivers (Qualcomm comes to mind) and they're tough to deal with.
I am not judging Square Enix, they've could done better, yes. At the very least, make it Tegra exclusive, and develop only for it.
I am just saying that developing games for iOS is easier, as you have to deal with pre-determined hardware, and you know, what to expect. Same with Widnows Phone - there are only Qualcomm processors, and ability to limit yourself to minimum of 1gb of RAM in MArketplace, so your game won't get on lower-spec phones.
And drivers are not the cause, that's lack of proper documentation. MTK and Exynos hardly have one. And Nvidia is happily sharing everything you need to develop for them, I must admit.

TB's review of it shows how bad it is. And its REALLY bad.

Might as well bring it up:

graphics are pretty good though i just played it meh whatever

I feel like they could have been much better, even for a lazy port.
And thats not counting the rest of the game.
Too bad I don't own a smartphone.
Why did you get so many dumbs?
The iOS version is actually decent, but yeah the PC and Android versions are horrendous.

It says it's US only for me, weird.
It's not even worth the gigabytes
I put in the code and it still took the full price. That's bullshit.
