reminds me of one time I was at a vet waiting on an appointment and I whipped my phone out to see if I had anything interesting to pass the time with. Didn't realize I had angry birds on it so I'm like "hell why not" and I turn my volume down with the side-buttons, hit the app, and BAM it starts playing music. I quickly re-mute it because media volume apparently doesn't mute with the rest of it, but the three notes of that whistly tune was enough to catch the attention of some 5 year old across the room
he shouted ANGRY BIRDS! in excitement, dove into his mom's purse and whipped out an ipad, proceeding to play the game at full volume with his mom not so much as flinching at the sudden noise, or the fact the dogs in the room all started barking wildly at him
I was so embarrassed for triggering that but nobody wanted to be rude to a 5 year old about not doing something because he looked like the type you see crying hardcore in a grocery store with the mom quietly shopping like he doesn't exist

Actually it is a good strategy to move random pieces around in puzzle games that don't penalize you for it. Meteos on the DS let you do that, and it was far more efficient than actually thinking it out.

I'm pretty sure that he was speaking Chinese and that was Chinese characters on the wall. I can't translate but I'm pretty confident, I'm in my second year of Chinese language study.

He wasn't speaking Japanese. Japanese uses Chinese characters (Hanzi) in their Kanji but they also have Hiragana and Katakana which are more squigly/less blocky than Hanzi/Kanji. A Japanese person might be able to read the sign though.

That's correct, Chinese is the official language of Taiwan.
