Lara Croft has been found.
Alicia Vikander has signed on to star in Tomb Raider for MGM, Warner Bros and GK Films, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The movie project, which has Roar Uthaug (The Wave) on board to direct, will tell the story of a young and untested Croft fighting to survive her first adventure
MGM and Warner Bros are co-producing the film with MGM overseeing production. They acquired the rights from GK Films who had previously purchased the film rights in 2011 from Square Enix Ltd.
Are we gonna get a 30 minute montage where she just moans a lot while falling off of shit repeatedly?
IMHO Angelina Jolie was a shit fit for Lara Croft.

I can watch Alicia Vikander moaning for two hours straight, and probably it would be more enjoyable than that second film with Jolie.
I wouldn't have thought of her for the role, but she's great. One of my favorite actresses I've discovered recently.
I thought they already cast that girl from the new Star Wars film as Lara?
I guess money doesn't talk.
Should've been Daisy Ridley.
Why are all the new "action" actresses so damn tiny ? The one from Rogue one is just 159 cm tall and this one is 166 cm. It's not like Tom Cruise will be in the movie too. Look at Sigourney Weaver, 182 cm tall strong woman, you know you can't mess with her. These just look like kids in a movie.

Not all women are that tall. Seems a little discriminatory to rule out shorter women from action roles.

on imdb is her... wtf is that thread ?
I hope it's wrong about Alicia...
I want so badly Daisy :)
Edit : Nooooo, on imdb they removed her :(
Oh, she was the robot girl from Ex Machina.
Well, she's certainly pretty, but I don't really see her as Lara Croft though, personally. I've been surprised before, though, I'd have to see her in-costume first.

It is kind of funny to take someone serious in action movies when you know they could get killed in real life with a single punch. Tom Cruise is short, but at least he was always athletically built, so with good light and tall shoes he looked like an action hero. Not to mention he is a great actor. The new wonder woman actress for example is tall, but is skinny as hell, not what you would expect from an amazon woman.
Lara isn't a super strong badass yet in the reboot, which I imagine is what the movie will be going for, so a less athletic looking Lara is just fine.

To be fair, even many athletic women don't look very bulky.

She's a world class weight lifter.

Is that the most recent photo of her?
Because I thought there was a famous woman weightlifter who was revealed to be on steroids recently?
Are they gonna shop her tits on some magazine cover and then get a uproar about how her tits are fake and the movie gets even more publicity?
well they weren't... but now...
Okay, after looking at a few more photos of her, I can kinda see her as the new Lara, but just saying it again, I want to see how she looks in the costume with the hairstyle, etc. just to see how well she can pull it off.
Also she needs to pull off a convincing Brit. accent too, of course.
She doesn't look English enough to portray a English character.
She doesn't look English enough to portray a English character.
thats because shes actually attractrive
thats because shes actually attractrive
Well if the English are so repulsive to you, why is an attractive actress playing the role of a repulsive character?
So we're going from a fun Lara who would give out fun quotes and generally have a good time to a movie that's about survival and bound to blend in with other movies about survival?

They can just put marker on her teeth and digitally add a lazy eye.
Better fit than Ridley by the looks of it.
Less teeth.
Alicia Vikander is a great actress so I'm fine with this

Angelina Jolie was good because back in the day LC's physical aspects were spot-on with her. In this year current LC is a lot more minion-like, a medium height college girl which i think alicia can handle well.

they were going to bring in an american actress but they couldn't even fit her on screen in IMAX

:godzing:
I've only seen her in Ex Machina and quite enjoyed it . I don't see how she wouldn't fit the role of Lara.
They can just put marker on her teeth and digitally add a lazy eye.
sadly the marker on teeth trick doesn't work on americans because they don't stop using their mouths for long enough to draw on them
that's why they actually had to get someone from an attractive country to portray an english person

A new haircut and she's good to go IMO.
