• Epic Games, Disappointed With Next Gen Consoles And Calls Out EA CTO
Unreal Engine 4 was presented at the PlayStation 4 announcement conference through a new Elemental Demo. We noted how the quality seemed to have dropped in the eight months following E3 while the demo was being ported to the console hardware. The most noticeable differences were in the severely reduced particle counts and the non-existent fine lighting details; of course, Epic pumped the contrast in the PS4 version which masked the lack of complexity as if it were a stylistic choice.
http://www.pcper.com/news/Editorial/Epic-Games-disappointed-PS4-and-Xbox-One

Haha, this'll be good.
If Epic are so disappointed with the consoles. Why do they keep making console exclusives? Apart from the fact that they get a ton of money for it I guess. Does Microsoft own a part of Epic?
Does Microsoft own a part of Epic?
There were rumors of the possibility of a purchase last year but nothing ever happened. And I think they do it for the money seeing as Microsoft doesn't own the rights to Gears of War so if Epic wanted to they could release the games on PS3/4 and PC (or Wii U lol).
If Epic are so disappointed with the consoles. Why do they keep making console exclusives? Apart from the fact that they get a ton of money for it I guess. why can't video games just be video games come on
Probably because Microsoft has a tendency to pay extra for exclusivity, and/or because it requires a lot of work to make a game work well on different platforms than just focusing on one.
This times infinity. It takes a lot of time and money to port a game, and we all know how "well" badly ported games sell, not to mention the publicity. Going for one market at a time is a much safer strategy today, sadly.
Why don't they make some PC exclusives too then? If only they'd make a true successor to UT2k4...
even if the next generation of this generation were to come out today, the PC will still be and always will be the leader
my new computer actually has better hardware than this new gen (except for octocore which doesnt mean the CPU is any better).
If anything, consoles have been slowing progress, as most ports on the PC have console graphics they find easy to process. No doubt this will continue.
Still, it'll probably be cheaper for me to buy a PS4 rather than upgrade my PC at this point.
Still, it'll probably be cheaper for me to buy a PS4 rather than upgrade my PC at this point.
for the money you'd pay for the new ps4, you can EASILY get equivalent hardware for your computer, if you bought them from amazon for example
for the money you'd pay for the new ps4, you can EASILY get equivalent hardware for your computer, if you bought them from amazon for example
And even if not, you gonna save up on cheaper games.
Still, it'll probably be cheaper for me to buy a PS4 rather than upgrade my PC at this point.
for my computer it was about $1K and it will probably last 6 maybe 8 years before its outdated, and with steam sales ill probably be saving like 600$ a year in games maybe. A PC is a great investment if you are into gaming compared to consoles.
I have to admit, Sony and Microsoft made some good choices with the CPUs in the next generation. Microsoft is going to use the extra cores to offload all the multitasking shit to them, and Sony is going to use them for stream video encoding. Too bad the clocks are probably going to be low, in order to keep heat at bay.

Ugh. My computer is 1,5 years old and it's got better specs than the next gen consoles. Doesn't matter.. they shorten the gap between console and PC hardware which means there's more room for developers to pump out eyecandy and deepen the game otherwise on my PC as well. And no it didn't cost me $4000. I paid €1500, and that's because I wanted to, not HAD TO.
Intel i5 2500k. This is a quadcore. All of the cores run on 4,5Ghz (I overclocked them from 3,3Ghz) 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM HD6950 2GB in CrossfireX 10TB of HDD space
Well, the Xbox 360 came out a whole generation before the PC and it has much better hardware, so obviously they have a head start. There's simply no competition once the Xbox One comes out unless they can really redeem themselves with the PC 2.

Still Zingers, since that means quick money is more important than principles. "Oh hey I'm gonna say one thing, but do the exact opposite, because I have no self-integrity."
Except they haven't been disappointed with the previous consoles in the first place? So they probably had no problems developing for 360, but they don't like the One?
Still Zingers, since that means quick money is more important than principles. "Oh hey I'm gonna say one thing, but do the exact opposite, because I have no self-integrity."
recieving more payment =/= quick money, get a grip.

I get an extra 70 FPS on metro last light just because of my processor, and last light was developed for intel processors.

But yeah, the 8150 started out doing shit, until recently.
