http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/23/ferguson-officer-relieved-duty-video-racist-remarks
A police officer involved in the protests over Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, Missouri, has been relieved of his duty after video surfaced of him making racist and derogatory remarks. Dan Page was recorded in April giving a speech in which he described President Barack Obama as an illegal immigrant, and railed against Muslims and gay people. “I’m into diversity – I kill everybody,” he said. Page - who was seen live on CNN earlier this week threatening to arrest the network’s anchor Don Lemon – is the second St Louis county officer to have been stood down in controversial circumstances surrounding the Ferguson protests. Lieutenant Ray Albers was suspended on Wednesday after video emerged of him pointing his assault weapon at protestors and threatening to kill them. In his speech, Page, who claims to have been a sergeant major in the US army and a Vietnam war veteran, sharply criticised laws intended to protect minorities from racially-motivated hatred and to help increase ethnic diversity. Citing the US declaration of independence’s statement that “all men are created equal”, he said: “That does not mean affirmative action. It means we’re all equal … God does not respect persons so we have no business passing hate crime laws.” “This here”, he added, brandishing a copy of the Bible, “is the foundation for this”, meaning the declaration of independence. Referring to the justices of the supreme court in Washington DC, he added: “You can’t separate them. I don’t know what them black-robed perverts don’t understand down there.” Page made his remarks during an address earlier this year to a St Louis branch of the Oath Keepers, an association of former and serving military personnel, police officers and first responders. The group says that its members “pledge to fulfill the oath all military and police take to ‘defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic’”. At one point during a slideshow of his past travels, Page displayed a photograph of himself in Kenya. “I said ‘I wanna go find where that illegal alien claiming to be my president, my undocumented president, lives at.’” He has previously said in interviews that he retired from the army because of Obama. Page also told the audience in his speech: “If you take a stand against sodomy or abortion you’re a terrorist, ladies and gentlemen … In the military right now we have open sodomy, people holding hands, people swapping spit together. Sick. It’s pitiful.” Later in his remarks, Page told a questioner in the audience: “Policemen are very cynical. I know I am. I don’t trust anybody. I hate everybody. I hate y’all, too. I hate everybody. I’m into diversity – I kill everybody. I don’t care.” At another point, Page said: “I personally believe in Jesus Christ as my lord saviour, but I’m also a killer. I’ve killed a lot, and if I need to I’ll kill a whole bunch more. “If you don’t want to get killed, don’t show up in front of me. It’s that simple. God did not raise me to be a coward. There comes a time when you’ve got to man up.”

[I]1:07: Talks about all men being created equal then went on to say "That does not mean affirmative action". 1:26: Rants about hate crime laws 3:22: Black (little?) Fucking idiot.
new world order [editline]23rd August 2014[/editline] it is happening
Okay, I can't view the video but at what point does the "hateful militia movement remarks" come up? Clearly this guy is a supreme bigot but where is he stated to be involved with the militia movement? Or am I being a sperglord and not realizing the title is sensationalist on purpose? :l
1:03:00 He's handed an oathkeeper patch
i find this part to be the funniest
he was lecturing an audience of oathkeepers but he isn't one of them.

He was giving it to a group called the "Oath Keepers" who are I guess only quasi-militia, they basically advocate police officers and military denying orders if they believe it violates the Constitution, he talks about it at about 2:30 but I guess you're right he doesn't actually talk about it too much, just kind of incoherently rants about groups of people he hates and his boner for killing
Okay, but Oathkeepers doesn't really have anything to do with the militia movement though. I mean, yeah, the two overlap a lot but they're different. I'm sure he said things that a lot of the audience agreed with, but it doesn't seem like he fits in anywhere, he did say he hates everyone after all. From what I'm reading he kinda sounds like he's mad at everything and doesn't care about anything anymore.
yeah, I added the militia movement thing to the title because I found it more concerning when someone with that kind of authority is even vaguely associated with the militia movement but I suppose I jumped the gun
yeah, I added the militia movement thing to the title because I found it more concerning when someone with that kind of authority is even vaguely associated with the militia movement but I suppose I jumped the gun
"The militia movement" is so vague, though, so I'm not sure why you're concerned. Yes, the ultra right-wing, neo-nazi, and other extreme types often intersect with the militia movement, but it's not really restricted to one political ideology. Really, anyone remotely involved with maintaining, organizing, or participating in a citizen's militia could be considered a part of "the movement." (I really don't like that term, it seems inappropriate to use here) Hell, I fit under that umbrella because I signed up as a disaster relief person, so I'd "get called up" if there was a flood or tornado. :l I don't think this Dan Page guy and I have a lot in common, do you?
I think most people understand the difference between a militia (do they even call disaster relief "militia"? I've never heard it in common speech) and the "militia movement". While the militia movement is vague it's a little less vague than you think because anything that's going to be labeled part of the movement in common speech most likely involves denying authority of the government. If anyone included a local citizens disaster relief program in with the "movement" it would be semantics at best.

There's also varying degrees of anti-governmentness (fuck it, let's go with that term for now) that range from angry youtube comments about the TSA and other criticisms, all the way up to batshit crazy "teh gooberment is a jew conspiracy!" shit, but that's not exclusive to militia members at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of the radical organizations that do shit like train for the day the race wars start, but I'm just not seeing a cohesive structure that could be called a "movement." In my mind it's like saying there's a smartphone movement because people started buying them.
I don't even understand why the constitution needed to include the militia thing. That was just asking for the extreme right to misinterpret it and create compounds of trigger happy idiots. Given enough bullshit, any country will form an organized militia to overthrow the government..... So why include it?

Im a lifeguard. At my pool some crazy dude once came in and gave me literature about how 9/11 was an inside job. Then a couple weeks later he brought his kid in and had him set up a lemonade stand that said "Locally grown GMO, pesticide free Lemonade $2 military, police, firefighters $1 Oath Keepers drink free" then it said "WARNING: Federal reserve/government policies may cause prices of lemons to triple in coming years!" [editline]23rd August 2014[/editline] also the lemonade was lemon water with stevia
Redundant post but I have to say it: Dumb motherfucker. Never deserved to wear a badge and doesn't deserve any respect.
also the lemonade was lemon water with stevia
what a horrible person.

The NAMM is a collection of several different groups with several different ideologies. Like for example: About three to four different branches of the Arizona Oathkeepers exists. Nogales-Patagonia, Bisbee, Flagstaff, and Phoenix-Tucson. Now for anyone who's not in bed already with these guys, yeah it's pretty weird and semantic to figure out who does what and why they do it. Flagstaff is a bunch of Neo-Nazis, while the Phoenix-Tucson branch is very much filled to the brim with anarchist of a variety of different schools. Bisbee and the Nogales-Patagonia branches are very relaxed, but they are often vilified for the shit the Flagstaff guys do.
