The way he says yes at the beginning is so telling. Seems like he could barely say it
Is he the next Todd Howard meme?
I think he's Todd's long lost brother
Keep in mind that there has only been two players making one attempt at finding each other in the game, and Sean Murray acknowledged it on Twitter, still talking like it's supposed to be possible. A frustratingly mysterious tweet, but regardless, we don't know enough to be posting this many threads and videos about no multiplayer and lying Sean just yet, in my opinion.
2 people of like, a bajillion tested a thing and it didn't work and now all of a sudden its 100% confirmed

I'm scepticle of it being offline but if its offline

This p much, seriously I feel like gamers are the worst for getting stirred up, being completely unwilling to consider anything other than malevolent intent and grabbing the pitchforks for a good old witchhunt.
I have been very critical of NMS for a while but its frustrating to see how closed minded so many people still are.

Probably because he's dodgy as fuck. If he was actually transparent, most of the frustrations people have would go away. I don't trust someone who can't give a straight answer to a question.

Yeah I get that, but flipping out and instantly accusing him of straight up lying/headlines literally saying the game doesn't have multiplayer within a day of release just because two people couldn't see each other is a bit much.
God damn, Sean dodges the multiplayer questions more than Valve dodges the Half-Life questions
I don't understand why everyone's saying he's "dodgy" about it. He never was...

Like people are just framing it that way with 0 substance to ride the wave
So let me recap:
Game is not officially released yet.
Developers claims that it has a multiplayer compareable to Journey and not a "real" multiplayer.
2 streamers land on the same planet while one of them is not signed into PSN.
The planet is clearly set at a different time of day for both players.
Tweets from the developers say that they are having issues with the servers.
How is this a proof for anything at this moment? :v:
I don't have much interrest in the game at the moment but isn't it too early to raise the pitchforks already?

I'm all about giving the benefit of the doubt but why isn't Sean just straight up saying "players should be able to see eachother but we're having network issues" but of COURSE that would be WAY too simple a solution.
Gotta be cryptic and vague at all time otherwise something something player experience something something creating cool moments something something.

People aren't pissed-off because there is or isn't any multiplayer, people are pissed-off because we SHOULDN'T have to GUESS if a CORE game feature is in the game or not.
[editline]10th August 2016[/editline]
We'll know for sure when the PC version hits because people will do some data-mining.

The game doesn't have a multiplayer at this moment, by design. That much is pretty clear. Descriptions on game's boxes say it doesn't (also stickers, apparently, which is hilarious). Steam page say it doesn't. Like, how much confirmation do you need, both these things come straight from the publisher.

He still has not given a definitive "yes you can meet other players" statement and keeps dancing around the subject. So much of the criticism the game currently has would be lifted if he just flat-out told the truth about what features are in and how exactly they work.
If people actually watched the original segments these clips were taken from (for comprehension for bonus points) they'd realize nothing was ever vague and this is garbo slandering from people who just don't want this game to exist.

Yet he keeps implying there is some form of multiplayer component.

Give us a timestamp for where exactly he directly confirms it instead of shitposting if you're so sure.
I mean the vid itself presents all the parts where he says there won't be multiplayer and the box itself does not indicate any multiplayer either.

But the game's release was like 2 days ago
for ps4 only tho pc comes out on the 12th

Yeah I'm not talking about Sean's weird position on the matter, I'm just stating the obvious. I guess in some people's minds "~1337$Pwnz0rz~ waz here" counts as a multiplayer component, although I'd argue it should be a separate "social" category.

Dude its almost every interview he ever gave. He has talked extensively about shit like preventing griefing, changes you make to planets being (relatively) local to you, the likelihood of finding people, and a lot more. I'll find it, but you could always watch interviews yourself.
Lol @ how people who didn't keep up on the game come out of the woodworks to say they were nothing but dodgy.

I have seen all of those interviews in full.
Facepunch is nearly one of the only places flipping shit about this. Let's wait until the PC release, and some more tests where both players are online until we start bitching about this
I have seen all of those interviews in full.
Yet you completely disregard the IGN part about the tweets and the fact he's re-emphasized recently that there isn't multiplayer in the classical sense.
Last I checked not watching the OP video then posting about it is bannable.

So is backseat moderating, so looks like we're all fucked now.

Okay I watched it and hoo boy it just devolved into sweet little lies, how compelling. Hope I don't get banned for missing that 1 minute of memeshit the first time around.
In the IGN interviews (over an hour long btw) he talked about that specifically and said that it's not multiplayer in the classic sense because the world is so big that finding people is rare, and that it shouldn't be treated as a multiplayer experience because of that. Now what is vague or confusing?

I think the main issue is that he just hasn't explained in concrete terms how encountering other players goes about. Not to mention the whole issue with not knowing how galaxies are composed IE whether they just have planets randomly collated from other people's instances or if there are actually named galaxies with consistent planets.
I understand why he hasn't elaborated in full on how a lot of this stuff works because he doesn't want people actively trying to find people and because the game is about discovery as a whole but it's just rubbed people the wrong way. It's akin to Molyneux or Howard talking too soon about ideas that are merely conceptual at that point in time.
So is backseat moderating, so looks like we're all fucked now.
How is recounting a rule backseat moderating?
I'd rather he didn't get banned since this is an important discussion and both sides need to be addressed.
