Some Questions About Cameras, Batteries, and Film (Minolta 7s)

Hello!
Recently, I received a Minolta 7s from a great uncle's estate sale, and I've got some questions about it.
First off, is it a decent camera? I know it's old, but I'm fairly certain I can get it serviced and returned to running order if I wanted.
Furthermore, like many cameras produced before 1990, it uses a mercury battery for the flash. I have no idea when it was last replaced, or even when the battery chamber (which, in this model, apparently has a rubber gasket) was opened last. What are the odds the battery has corroded, rendering the camera potentially hazardous to health or safety, and if not, where can I get some sort of replacement?
Finally, what kind of film would it use, and is the film still commercially available? I want to get this thing back up and running, but you can't take pictures without something to store them on.
Thanks in advance.
It's not a bad camera, it's a fixed rangefinder so it's okay. Worth like $40 at most I'm thinking even in good condition. It might be worth fixing if you are interested but there are better cameras out there. The battery is an issue, but there are ones you can use that will work well enough, not sure what they are though. And it just takes 35mm film, you can buy it at places like Walgreens and CVS
