Ukrainian blogger and marketing man Sergey Galyonkin – who tipped off the closure of the STALKER 2 project earlier this year – has claimed that Bethesda now have the rights to make a publish a STALKER game. They also apparently have rights to the extended universe. GSC owner Sergei Grigorovich has not sold the brand, but apparently Bethesda could now make a game based on the property with their own technology. We’ll report more on this as we get it.
This follows on from the closure of STALKER 2 earlier in the year, an event which culminated in Ukrainian spin-off studios such as Survarium devs, Vostok.
We’ve contacted Bethesda for a statement.
Even if it's just a claim by a blogger, it's a pretty big one. Galyonkin was pretty close to the original team
That makes no fucking sense.
Breaking news: STALKER 2 will run on the creation engine.
Oh fuck no. I hope this is just bullshit.
Bethesda couldn't do a STALKER game to save their life. It needs quirky ukranians at the helm to manage to be a STALKER game

Can't tell if that'd be better or worse.
The whole Bethesda Stalker rumor is pretty unreliable, but anything is possible. Anyhow, instead of restarting my arguments from the megathread, I'll just post my current conclusion:
I understand a lot of people getting scared about it, even if IMO Bethesda definitely has the skills to make a game, and they do tend to make rather good games most of the time(Obsidian does it even better than they do), but when it comes to STALKER you're not making an RPG, especially not a Bethesda/Interplay-style RPG, you're making S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Creation Engine isn't that big of a deal, either, and in comparison to the demonic X-Ray SDK developing for Creation Engine is easy work. What matters, however, is A-Life and Atmosphere.
Why the fuck would they develop a stalker game when they have fallout to worry about?

Get out of here STALKER.
-NO FUCK YOU. [MURDER]
-Okay, sorry.
-GET OUT OF HERE, STALKER.
STALKER 2 with Gamebyro engine. PLEASE GOD NO!
I think they can get the atmosphere right, but it'll probably have shitty combat and an iffy plot.

I would trust Bethesda with Stalker as much as I trust them with the Fallout story.
Poor Russians. If this turns out to be true it'll be them who get the shabby translations.
Oh my god please no.
Bethesda just stick to fallout and don't try making something out of stalker.
stalker 2 will now feature hundreds of generic quests and will be put through bethdesa's trademark art style
S.T.A.L.K.E.R, now with V.A.T.S!
I think Bethesda could do a good Stalker game, it wouldn't be the same as the orignals, but considering how radically different Fallout 3 was from the originals, this wont be too big of a gap for Bethesda to handle.
At least it would have better support and hopefully) less bugginess.
No Bethesda, don't even touch it.

maybe if they blew some dosh on hiring better people but yeah fucking right, this would be like heading into the opposite direction
At least it means maybe better translations and the game structure won't feel as... Messy. But I don't know.
they got lucky with fallout
NONONONONO YOU RUINED FALLOUT BETHESDA. I really hope this is a rumour.

The only way is to let everything take it's time and see what comes out.
...or Sergei Grigorovich will probably pull the plug on their permission after seeing it because he's pretty much his own biggest fanboy and fired the original team because he got unsatisfied with the way they handled the upcoming sequel.

I'd rather have them stick to Fallout, really. If they start doing stalker, it will just evolve into a harder fallout in the best of cases.
You can't just switch devs and expect the game to be the same.
If there's hope for another STALKER, we can pray for a new STALKER, and hope Bethesda doesn't twist it up too much. Hopefully "S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2" has more depth than Skyrim, and the choices made actually affect the Zone, rather than people constantly suggesting you join the Mage's College when you're already the Archmage of the Entire Universe.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NONO NONO
They'll probably make STALKER: New york
