That's not even overflowing, I've gotten drinks where the liquid is up to the cap or even overflowing.

Seems like they're trying to solve a problem with unnecessary tech when the problem has already been solved by having.. a lid. If you brew some coffee at home and need to take it with you, get a travel mug. Keeps the coffee warm and it has a lid for this exact purpose. Never had issues of drinks spilling out of a soda can either (even when accelerating like a maniac). I just don't really see the point in this [editline]20th September 2014[/editline] Also these types of cup holders have been around for longer than i've even been alive. The reason you don't see them being used is because they're pretty pointless in a car

Clever concept, totally useless. I don't think I've ever been in a situation with a drink in the car unless it's a bottle of water How often do you really need to drive around with a cup of coffee?
guess it'd be useful if your route to work is riddled with chicanes and you are sandra bullock in the movie speed
Wow, this expertly solves a problem I didnt even have.
"Dedicated to solving problems that no normal human being has ever had."
I can't wait until they invent an automatic pee-on-bowl remover
If they can make one big enough for a cereal bowl then I can shave off a fair chunk of time from my morning routine

I use a flask for coffee and one of these for cans: Keeps it fizzy too
or just dont bring an overflowing cup of coffee into the car.
I only fill my coffee cups to 3/4ths and it still sloshes out when I get back on the road or have to brake hard. Lids are a way for me to instantly burn my tongue so I don't use them.

Sure, coffee usually has a lid on it, but have you ever been a passenger and tried to put in cream and sugar into it while the driver is taking a particularly curvy route? Not fun. You can't even rely on waiting for a red light because once it turns green the acceleration is almost sure to send some coffee spilling out. This cupholder is perfect for those like myself who find themselves constantly performing drink maintenance on the go.
