Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard met with President-elect Donald Trump and his transition team Monday. Gabbard, who backed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary, is being considered for jobs at the Defense Department, State Department and the United Nations, a source told CNN. "President-elect Trump asked me to meet with him about our current policies regarding Syria, our fight against terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS, as well as other foreign policy challenges we face," Gabbard said in a statement. Also expected to meet with Trump today at Trump Tower are former Texas Governor Rick Perry, Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao, former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown and Newt Gingrich.
Source
“President-elect Trump and I had a frank and positive conversation in which we discussed a variety of foreign policy issues in depth. I shared with him my grave concerns that escalating the war in Syria by implementing a so-called no-fly/safe zone would be disastrous for the Syrian people, our country and the world. It would lead to more death and suffering, exacerbate the refugee crisis, strengthen ISIS and Al Qaeda, and bring us into a direct conflict with Russia, which could result in a nuclear war. We discussed my bill to end our country’s illegal war to overthrow the Syrian government, and the need to focus our precious resources on rebuilding our own country, and on defeating Al Qaeda, ISIS and other terrorist groups who pose a threat to the American people.”
Source
Wow, that would be a trip. Only heard her speak a few times but she seemed really reasonable.
Cue the Liberal left calling her a "Traitor"
It's already happened, she faced instant backlash especially from the people so deluded they still think that hillary clinton might win. It doesn't matter that she's the absolute picture of the diversity they want in office (she's a female hindu pacific islander veteran, quite a list) or that she's trying to bring an agenda that a lot of them want (avoiding military intervention and more wars in the middle east), all that matters to them is that she consorted with trump who they view as literally hitler
I seriously hope in the next few years the Democratic party can get a good look at itself before it rips itself apart.
Nope, they're convinced that after four years There will not be a democratic party, Because they think by then Trump has consolidated power to become dictator-for-life and has jailed dissadents, not joking.
I seriously hope in the next few years the Democratic party can get a good look at itself before it rips itself apart.
Question is whether or not it's been ripped apart already? Hell, Tulsi is a great rep and the Dems essentially shat on her from day one. Removed her from the debates after she called for more of them IIRC. I hope she makes it into any of the current considerations
Hopefully the Democrats who believe that can leave the party and politics all together and let the sane ones with a plan take control of the party.
Yes, The people who actually govern do not believe that. But there is a good chunk of Liberals which mostly were die-hard Clinton Supporters (Clinton Herself doesn't believe) that do believe that, yes Trump will consolidate power with a "Reichstag fire", and yes they are using Nazi terms Edit: and then in another thread fascist is being thrown around like nobody's business.
It's a strategy of fascist ideologies to attempt to destroy any form of attention paid to nuance. Logical contradictions don't matter, they're too complicated and should be done away with and replaced by name calling The republicans have been leaning fascist for years and years. This is the next logical step for them - mass deportations, walls, and voter restrictions on any demographic likely to vote democrat in the next election
I've never heard Facism being linked to the GOP before Trump.
I seriously hope in the next few years the Democratic party can get a good look at itself before it rips itself apart.
It's honestly going through its own version of the GOP circa 2008 when Obama was elected, frothing at the mouth and refusing any form of cooperation. The best way to stop Trump from doing his stupid shit is to approach and smooth talk him, presumably what Rep. Gabbard is doing.

I wish she could run. After Isak kept posting about her I did a lot of research and everything sounded phenomenal - but apparently American Samoa doesn't count for being a "natural born citizen" like Puerto Rico or other territories do.
I've never heard Facism being linked to the GOP before Trump.
You must not pay attention to many anti-GOP critics. Hard Republicans have been compared to fascists for the past 50 years. Most of the comparisons were usually a bit weak but it was a common criticism.

Wasn't she listed as Bernie Sander's VP pick in one state during the Democratic Primaries? Neat to see she might be getting a decent position in government, she seems competent enough.
really? wow...
It probably doesn't help that the GOP/Republican party has been pretty consistently against civil rights progress (barring gun rights though that's a whole mess of it's own) since baby boomers were organizing sit-ins in segregated restaurants in the 60s.
