The deals usually only last for like 6 hours and they have a limited selection. Insane people want to get their cheap TVs or whatever and will assault people for them. It's really not great.

Stores get around this by having guards and giving out redemption tickets for high value items like iPads or TVs or whatever, but the fact that they [I]need[/I] to do that is really bad.

Depends where you work and for how long or what shift. At my Walmart last year, anyone who worked on blackfriday or thanksgiving was given a 50%-off Coupon for [i]anything[/i] in the store, and that went along with our 10% discount we already get on most stuff. So we were effectively given a 60% off coupon that was valid for 48 or 72 hours. A lot of people bought left over TV's and Xbox's with it, but most just bought a few months worth of groceries at half price.

I worked private security for a large mall for just over a year before getting a new job.. let me tell you what... people suck at shoplifting. Fights didnt happen thankfully. What sucked is working thanksgiving 5p until 4a friday, then again 10a friday until 10p.

I'm only working retail because the Chamber of Commerce in this town is stifling growth by preventing large companies from opening businesses, so this $8/hr job is the best job for a college student here. We're a college town, have been since the late 1800s, and the town is still 6500 people.

I loved the 8 hour gaps, It's meant so you can get 8 hours of sleep. Not minding the trip home depending on how long can be 5 minutes or 30 minutes. Then getting undressed and doing the final things before you get to bed. So that 8 hours just turned into 6 or maybe 6 and a half. Oh wait lets not forget getting up and getting ready for work!
