Good news, everyone! The final nail in California's Proposition 8 has finally been hammered!
The California Supreme Court refused Wednesday to revive Proposition 8, ending the last remaining legal challenge to same-sex marriage in the state. Meeting in closed session, the state high court rejected arguments by ProtectMarriage, Proposition 8’s sponsors, that only an appellate court could overturn a statewide law. In its challenge before the state’s highest court, ProtectMarriage argued that a single judge lacked the authority to overturn a state constitutional amendment. The group also contended that Walker’s injunction applied to two counties at most and that state officials had overstepped their authority by ordering county clerks throughout California to issue same-sex marriage licenses. State officials countered that the challenge was a veiled attempt to persuade a state court to interfere with a federal judge’s order in violation of the U.S. Constitution.
Good.
Though I think this:

is wildly immature.
It's about time! Thank goodness for all of those who can get married now.

so is actually caring about what people do in the bedroom but that hasn't stopped anyone
Thank god, hopefully this'll get more states behind equality in marriage.
ProtectMarriage? Marriage has always been dead, look at divorce rates in America and around the world, look at the people including celebrities that have 1 week of marriage or even a day and apply for a divorce.
Homosexuals deserve it more than hetrosexuals

That has nothing to do with the immature comment in the OP.

You're right! Both marriage and divorce is good business for bakeries and lawyers, respectively; and by legalizing gay marriage, we're opening up an entire new market!

That is assuming that homosexuals will never have problems, or are better than heterosexuals, either of which is not "equal". As for the high divorce rate, that is a problem that needs addressing, but if the government did not allow for easy in-easy out marriages, people would complain then. It is too easy to marry, and too easy to divorce, but any other way would infringe upon people's freedoms.

well i hardly think one dude being kind of immature (although he really didn't say anything out of the ordinary for an FP post so idk how this is exceptional) to a complete bunch of dickwads on an internet forum is really worth fussing over in any way shape or form
I don't think it'd be very wise if we let them suck us off.
Our genitals would fall off since all of the things they've spoken about regarding marriage has mostly been bacteria ridden shit.
op is a fag

legal ties with marriage should just be cut in the first place
benefits to partnership should exist, but not one that's bound by a church. christian marriages should include a partnership status, but there should be ways of obtaining that other than through a church

There is no doubt that homosexuals will do 1 week marriages or a day, but I'm just saying right now and the whole thing that marriage is a sacred event is pretty bullshit. You can get a legal marriage in las vegas by an Elvis pedestrian in a fast food joint.
The only thing that bothers me is that we should have gotten a supreme court decision off of this... and we would have if the state government would defend it. I think it's a pretty slippery slope to not defend your own law.

It's just incredibly stupid to post in a thread about such an important event in US politics.
Hooray for progress!
